Frequency and visual outcomes of herpes simplex keratitis in a Kuwaiti tertiary referral center.

- The study focuses on the prevalence and visual outcomes of herpes simplex virus (HSV) keratitis over one year at Farwaniya Hospital in Kuwait, finding that 31.7% of patients with infectious keratitis had HSV.
- A total of 72 patients were diagnosed, primarily male with a mean age of around 46, and several subtypes of HSV keratitis were identified, including endotheliitis and dendritic ulcers.

BACKGROUND Superior ophthalmic vein thrombosis (SOVT) is a rare condition, with an incidence of 3 to 4 cases per million per year. SOVT can be classified according to the underlying etiology into septic or aseptic SOVT. We present a case of right SOVT in a previously healthy patient with a positive blood culture of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

Lupus retinopathy is reported in around 10% of patients with SLE; however, it is rarely the initial presenting feature of the disease. We report a unique case of bilateral retinal vasculitis as the initial presentation of SLE with secondary antiphospholipid syndrome (APS).
