Black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) can convert organic waste into high-quality biomass. In this study, we tested the potential of sugarcane by-products as a food source for BSFL and compared larval development and nutritional value with some other organic substrates. Seven different substrates were used, including carrot pomace (C), carrot pomace and leftover bread (CB) (50/50), bagasse and vinasse (BV), bagasse and molasses (BM), bagasse, vinasse, and molasses (BVM), a mixture of all the above treatments (MX), and university canteen leftovers (UCLs).

Dendrothrips is one of 12 genera currently recognised in subfamily Dendrothripinae (ThripsWiki 2020). The species of Dendrothrips have the fore wing anteromarginal cilia arising ventrally behind the margin, but in contrast to species in other genera with this character state the wing apex is recurved without a terminal seta (Mound Tree 2016). Species of Dendrothrips breed on leaves, and many have been recorded from species of plant family Oleaceae (Marullo 2003).

The carob moth, Spectrobates ceratoniae Zeller, is the most destructive pest of pomegranate groves of Iran. Seasonal population dynamics of the pest was studied in pomegranate orchards of Sirvan, Ilam province, in southwestern Iran for 2 yr (2016/2017). Sampling distribution of the pest larvae on pomegranate fruits was evaluated by Taylor's power law and Iwao's patchiness index, and a fixed-precision sequential sampling plan of the pest was developed using Green's model.

Laboratory experiments were conducted to measure the functional and numerical responses of Eretmocerus mundus Mercet parasitizing cotton whitefly, Bemisia tabaci Gennadius. Parasitoids were isolated singly for 24 h in 5 cm petri dishes with either 5, 10, 20, 40, 60 or 100 second nymphal stages of B. tabaci.
