A Rare Medical Dilemma: Presentation and Management of Placental Polyp.

Placental polyp is one of the rare diseases that affect women after parturition or abortion. In this series of case reports, we aim to demonstrate the presentation, imaging findings, and management of these cases of placental polyps, which were presented to our institution. These cases vary in age and clinical findings.

Prevalence of urinary incontinence among Saudi women.

Objective: To estimate the prevalence of female urinary incontinence (UI) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; to determine associated risk factors; and to identify healthcare-seeking behavior among affected women.

Methods: A cross-sectional study of women attending Ministry of Health primary healthcare centers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was conducted. Participants completed a questionnaire that evaluated factors associated with UI.

Maternal neutrophil apoptosis in normal pregnancy, preeclampsia, and normotensive intrauterine growth restriction.

Objective: In normal pregnancy there is both a neutrophilia and a mild neutrophil activation. In preeclampsia both direct and indirect evidence supports further marked neutrophil activation. In the pathogenesis of preeclampsia peripheral blood neutrophils may play a vital role in communicating between the preeclamptic placenta and the maternal vascular endothelium and contribute to the endothelial cell dysfunction that characterizes the maternal syndrome of preeclampsia.

HELLP syndrome: Clinical profile of seven patients.

HELLP syndrome is a multi-organ disorder unique to pregnancy. It is characterized by hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelets in patients with pre-eclampsia or eclampsia. In King Abdulaziz Oncology Center, Jeddah, seven patients with HELLP syndrome were admitted over a period of four years (1991-94).
