In the present research work, a selenium N-heterocyclic carbene (Se-NHC) complex/adduct was synthesized and characterized by using different analytical methods including FT-IR, HNMR, and CNMR. The antifungal activity of the Se-NHC complex against () fungus was investigated with disc diffusion assay. In this research, novel heterogeneous cation exchange membranes based on thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) have been prepared by the solution casting technique. The effects of incorporation level of sulfonated polystyrene divinyl-benzene (PSS/DVB) resin on water uptake, ion exchange capacity, membrane potential and salt extraction have been elucidated. Morphological and water uptake studies suggested a two-phase heterogeneous membrane morphology owing to the presence of hard and soft segments in the TPU backbone and swelling of PSS/DVB particles.

As a developing technology for flexible electronic device fabrication, ultra-violet (UV) photodetectors (PDs) based on a ZnO nanostructure are an effective approach for large-area integration of sensors on nonconventional substrates, such as plastic or paper. However, photoconductive ZnO nanorods grown on flexible substrates have slow responses or recovery as well as low spectral responsivity because of the native defects and inferior crystallinity of hydrothermally grown ZnO nanorods at low temperatures. In this study, ZnO nanorod crystallites are doped with Cu or Ni/Cu when grown on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates in an attempt to improve the performance of flexible PDs.

The current study was conducted to evaluate the antimicrobial, antioxidant, antileishmanial and cytotoxic potential of designed derivatives of 1,1'-(1,3-phenylenebis(methylene))bis(3-alkyl/aryl-1H-benzimidazol-3-ium) salts. The antibacterial potential of the test compounds was investigated against Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and two methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) strains (MRSA10, MRSA11), where compound 6 showed the best results.

In this study, the ambient condition for the as-coated seed layer (SL) annealing at 350 °C is varied from air or nitrogen to vacuum to examine the evolution of structural and optical properties of ZnO nanorods (NRs). The NR crystals of high surface density (~240 rods/μm²) and aspect ratio (~20.3) show greatly enhanced (002) degree of orientation and crystalline quality, when grown on the SLs annealed in vacuum, compared to those annealed in air or nitrogen ambient.
