Article Synopsis
- - The study aimed to detect the entamoeba histolytica gene and its immunogene calreticulin in stool samples from children suspected to be infected, conducted in two hospitals in Iraq from December 2020 to September 2021.
- - Out of 86 children tested, 71 (82.6%) were confirmed infected with entamoeba histolytica, with a notable prevalence in boys and a majority of cases within the 1-4 year age group; 44 cases detected the gene using conventional PCR and 36 expressed calreticulin using real-time PCR.
- - The findings suggest that polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is an effective diagnostic tool for detecting entamoeba histolytica
