Background And Purpose:  Early migration of the uncemented cruciate-sacrificing rotating platform ATTUNE and Low Contact Stress (LCS) tibial components was classified as at-risk for aseptic loosening rates exceeding 6.5% at 15 years based on recent fixation-specific migration thresholds. Background And Purpose:  This study updates 2 parallel systematic reviews and meta-analyses from 2012, which established the 1-year radiostereometric (RSA) migration thresholds for tibial components of total knee replacements (TKR) based on the risk of late revision for aseptic loosening from survival studies. The primary aim of this study was to determine the (mis)categorization rate of the 2012 thresholds using the updated review as a validation dataset. Secondary aims were evaluation of 6-month migration, mean continuous (1- to 2-year) migration, and fixation-specific thresholds for tibial component migration.

Background: The primary objective of this study was to investigate the diagnostic characteristics of bone scintigraphy single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (BS-SPECT/CT) for diagnosing aseptic loosening after uncemented total knee arthroplasty (TKA), and to evaluate the following aspects: how to manage inconclusive results, the interobserver reliability, and the location of tracer uptake between symptomatic cases with and without aseptic loosening.

Methods: In this study, 180 patients who had uncemented TKA and persistent knee pain suspected of aseptic loosening were included. As part of routine medical care, BS-SPECT/CT was used, and its results were compared with the reference standard, which involved revision surgery for aseptic loosening or a 12-month follow-up without revision or imaging.

Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a severe and progressive condition in which the lung becomes scarred over time resulting in pulmonary function impairment. Classical histopathology remains an important tool for micro-structural tissue assessment in the diagnosis of PF. A novel workflow based on spatial correlated propagation-based phase-contrast micro computed tomography (PBI-microCT), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and histopathology was developed and applied to two different preclinical mouse models of PF - the commonly used and well characterized Bleomycin-induced PF and a novel mouse model for progressive PF caused by conditional Nedd4-2 KO.

Background: Ankle osteoarthritis is debilitating and usually affects relatively young people, often as a result of previous ankle traumas, frequently occurring in sports. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for ankle osteoarthritis have shown no evidence of benefit over the course of 26 weeks. Large bone defects of the lower extremities are challenging for both patients and the treating orthopedic surgeons. The treatment is determined by the size and location of the defect; however, patient-specific factors, such as the soft tissue situation and the presence of systemic comorbidities must be taken into consideration in the treatment strategy. Osteodistraction is an excellent technique especially for large bone defects exceeding 3 cm; however, it is time-consuming and required external fixation prior to the development of motorized distraction nails.
