Background: Vitamin D (vit D) controls inflammation and immunity. In Behçet's disease (BD), microRNA-155 is recognized as a significant immune response regulator. We aimed to investigate the role of vit D on immunomodulation and downregulation of inflammatory pathways associated with BD and detect the role of miRNA-155 in BD.

Recently, thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) was identified to have a direct role on lipid metabolism via increased expression of hepatic proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9). PCSK9 plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism via regulating LDL-C levels.

Thus, we evaluated the relative serum expression of miR-155, an inflammatory micro RNA, and the mRNAs (JAK2/STAT3) in acute ischemic stroke patients and its associations with the inflammatory cytokine TNF-α and different stroke risk factors.
Subjects And Methods: The relative expression of serum miR-155 and mRNAs (JAK2/STAT3) was assessed using RT-PCR, serum TNF-α was measured using ELIZA in 46 acute ischemic stroke patients and 50 control subjects.
Background: Vitamin D deficiency and vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene polymorphisms have been linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its metabolic parameters, however there are conflicting results therefore we aimed to evaluate VDR gene polymorphisms (Fok1, Bsm1 and Taq1) and vitamin D status in Egyptian patients with T2DM and to detect the associations of these polymorphisms to their metabolic parameters and glycemic control.
Methods: 50 patients with T2DM and 50 healthy age matched control subjects were enrolled. FBG, 2 h -PPG, fasting lipids, Hb A1c, calcium, phosphorus, urea, creatinine, ALT, AST were measured.
Background: Omentin-1 a new anti-inflammatory adipokine has been identified as a major visceral (omental) secretory adipokine which plays important roles in glucose homeostasis, lipid metabolism, insulin resistance and diabetes. The aim of our study was to evaluate serum omentin-1 levels in type 2 diabetic obese females and assess its relation with glycemic control, insulin resistance and metabolic parameters.
Methods: The study included 60 obese type 2 diabetic females and 30 healthy female subjects formed the control group.
