Dapagliflozin (DAPA), a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, is one of the newer anti-diabetic drugs used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). DAPA exerted beneficial effects in many human and rat models due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antifibrotic activities.

This study aimed to assess the effects of icosapent ethyl on acetic acid-induced colitis in rats as well as the underlying mechanisms involved. 36 male Wister rats were equally divided into six groups: control, UC, mesalamine 100 mg/kg, icosapent 150mg/kg, icosapent 300 mg/kg, and EX527-icosapent 300 mg/kg groups.

In our study, we investigate its role in abdominal postoperative adhesion (APA) formations. Our results demonstrate that ADIOL alleviates APA formation after induction by cecal abrasion (CA) model in the male rat.

Micellar Thin Layer Chromatography and Computer-Aided Analysis of Empagliflozin, Linagliptin and Metformin HCl Ternary Mixture.

The present work was performed in order to study the mechanism of micellar thin layer chromatography (MTLC) and to develop a new simple and sensitive simultaneous MTLC method for separation of empagliflozin, Linagliptin and metformin hydrochloride ternary mixture. The study was done using three different surfactants; sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), benzalkonium chloride (BAC) and polysorbate 80 (tween 80). Chromatographic procedure was performed using micellar mobile phase that composed of aqueous solution of each surfactant and methanol (6: 4 v/v) and micellar TLC determination at λmax 237 nm.

Simple TLC-spectrodensitometric method for studying lipophilicity and quantitative analysis of hypoglycemic drugs in their binary mixture.

A selective and simple salting-out-assisted thin-layer chromatographic methodology was developed for the simultaneous determination of two oral hypoglycemic drugs, dapagliflozin (DAPA) and metformin (MET) in their pure forms, tablets and spiked human plasma samples. Silica gel 60 F plates were used in the separation of the two drugs using a mobile phase consisting of 0.5 m (NH ) SO and methanol (3:7, v/v).

TLC-spectrodensitometric method for simultaneous determination of dapagliflozin and rosuvastatin in rabbit plasma: stability indicating assay and kinetic studies.

Herein, a sensitive and reliable eco-friendly TLC-spectrodensitometric method has been established for the simultaneous determination of dapagliflozin (DAPA) and rosuvastatin (ROSV) for the first time. TLC separation was carried out on silica gel F using ethyl acetate : methanol (5 : 0.1, v/v) as a mobile phase and UV measurement at 243 nm.

A novel method for the treatment of Class II malocclusion.

Growth modification is a feasible approach for the treatment of skeletal Class II malocclusion. A positive association was found between the lateral functional shift of the mandible due to occlusal prematurities and skeletal changes. This finding is reminiscent of an equivalent anteroposterior skeletal effect of the anterior functional shift of the mandible.

Factorial approach for the optimization and development of stability indicating study of the contraceptive suspension for injection(Depo-Provera®).

The study involves use of factorial design for optimization of forced degradation conditions and development of stability indicating method for medroxyprogestrone acetate (MPA) or depo-provera as known in the market. MPA is an important contraceptive and anticancer drug especially for treatment of breast cancer and it is the first time to study the different conditions affecting its stability. MPA was subjected to different variables such as solvent type, pH and the time subjected to UV light.

Treatment stability after total maxillary arch distalization with modified C-palatal plates in adults.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to evaluate skeletal, dentoalveolar, and soft tissue changes at 3 years posttreatment in patients with Class II Division 1 malocclusion treated with modified C-palatal plates (MCPPs).

Methods: The sample consisted of 69 lateral cephalograms of 23 patients Class II Division 1 malocclusion (9 men, 14 women; average age, 20.1 years) who underwent bilateral distalization of their maxillary dentition.

Comparison of tooth movement and biological response in corticotomy and micro-osteoperforation in rabbits.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the amount of tooth movement and histologic changes with different corticotomy designs and micro-osteoperforation in rabbits.

Methods: The sample consisted of 24 rabbits divided into three experimental groups (triangular corticotomy [TC] and indentation corticotomy [IC] with flap, and flapless micro-osteoperforations [MP]) and a control. A traction force of 100 cN was applied by connecting the first premolars to the incisors.

Safety of Vinflunine in Patients with Advanced Urothelial Carcinoma Refractory to Platinum-based Chemotherapy: A Prospective Pilot Study.

Background: Several single chemotherapeutic agents have been evaluated as the second-line treatment of advanced urothelial carcinoma. Despite encouraging efficacy outcomes, toxicity has often led to dose modifications or discontinuation. We aimed to assess the safety of vinflunine in a particular population of advanced transitional cell carcinoma of urothelium (TCCU), that were exposed to the previous toxicity of chemotherapy.

Simultaneous TLC-densitometric determination of tamoxifen citrate and medroxyprogesterone acetate and UV-degradation kinetic study of medroxyprogesterone acetate.

Coadministration of tamoxifen citrate (TMC) and medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) is preferred to increase the response rate and the percentage recovery in patients with endometrial carcinoma. Administration of TMC and MPA and their combination affects estrogen and progestin receptor concentrations in advanced endometrium carcinoma by affecting 17β-hydroxyl steroid dehydrogenase activity and serum hormone concentrations. A sensitive, accurate and robust thin-layer chromatography method has been established for simultaneous analysis of TMC and MPA.

Empagliflozin, SGLT inhibitor, attenuates renal fibrosis in rats exposed to unilateral ureteric obstruction: potential role of klotho expression.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global healthcare problem; however until now, there is no effective treatment that can stop its progression. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose linked transporter-2 inhibitor (SGLTI) in a model of unilateral ureteric obstruction (UUO) in rats, as a model of progressive renal interstitial fibrosis in vivo and the possibility of inclusion of klotho protein. Rats were randomly divided into five groups: group 1: control group, group 2: UUO untreated group, group 3: prophylactic SGLTI treatment before UUO, group 4: immediate SGLTI treatment after UUO, and group 5: delayed SGLTI treatment (this group received distilled water 1 week after UUO then empagliflozin for 2 weeks).

Umbilical cord blood-mesenchymal stem cells and carvedilol reduce doxorubicin- induced cardiotoxicity: Possible role of insulin-like growth factor-1.

In this study, we tried to demonstrate the effects of adding human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cells (hUCB-MSCs) to carvedilol in improving the doxorubicin- induced cardiotoxicity in rats. Rats were randomly divided into four groups: group 1: control group, group 2: doxorubicin untreated group, group 3: rats injected with doxorubicin and received carvedilol, and group 4: rats injected with doxorubicin and received carvedilol and stem cell-treated. Electrocardiography (ECG) was performed to assess cardiac function after animals were sacrificed.
