Background: Splenectomy indications are well documented; however, several infectious complications and potentially life-threatening conditions could arise after splenectomy. We aim to describe a 20-year single-center experience of postoperative outcomes after splenectomy and perform a subgroup analysis according to approach and surgical setting with a 30-day, 90-day, and 1-year follow-up.
Study Design: A retrospective cohort study was conducted between 2003 and 2023.

Our objective is to identify prognostic factors that significantly influence axillary lymph node involvement to identify patients who could benefit from surgery without axillary lymphadenectomy.
Methods: This is an observational retrospective study of consecutive patients diagnosed and operated of breast cancer between 2000 and 2014 at University Hospital La Ribera (UHR).
Salmon pancreas disease virus (SPDV) has been affecting the salmon farming industry for over 30 years, but despite the substantial amount of studies, there are still a number of recognized knowledge gaps, for example in the transmission of the virus. In this work, an ultrastructural morphological approach was used to describe observations after infection by SPDV of an ex vivo cardiac model generated from Atlantic salmon embryos. The observations in this study and those available on previous ultrastructural work on SPDV are compared and contrasted with the current knowledge on terrestrial mammalian and insect alphaviral replication cycles, which is deeper than that of SPDV both morphologically and mechanistically.

The aim of this study was to assess the impact on the proportion of HIV tests requested after the introduction of an electronic prompt instructing primary healthcare (PHC) physicians to request an HIV test when diagnosing predefined IC.
Methods: A prospective interventional study was conducted in 2015 in three PHC centres in Barcelona to assess the number of HIV test requests made during the implementation of an electronic prompt.

Dab representing 3 severity grades of hyperpigmentation were sampled for virology, bacteriology, histopathology and ultrastructure assessments. No cytopathic effect was recorded during virology testing, and bacteriological results showed no differences between normal and hyperpigmented dab.

However, there are no quantitative measurements of the mechanical properties of these actin comets. In this work, we use nanoindentation based on atomic force microscopy to measure the elastic modulus of actin comets grown on 1-μm-diameter beads in an Arp2/3 (actin-related proteins 2 and 3)-complex-dependent fashion in the absence and in the presence of VASP (vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein).
