[HIV mortality in sanitary districts of Mexico from 1990 to 2015].

Objective: To analyze the distribution and trends of HIV mortality in the Sanitary Districts (JS) of Mexico.

Materials And Methods: To calculate crude and standardized mortality rates, official figures of deaths from Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía and population estimates from Consejo Nacional de Población were used. Magnitude, distribution and trends of HIV mortality were analyzed, at the national level, by state and JS, using JoinPoint regression model.

[Impact of the provision of fortified cornmeal on anemia in preschoolers in the indigenous areas of Mexico].

Objective: To estimate changes in anemia status in preschool age children at 9 months after the provision of soy- and iron-fortified cornflour.

Methods: A non-experimental pre-post evaluation study was performed in a sample of 98 boys and 96 boys aged between 6 and 24 months. We analyzed demographic, anthropometric, and biochemical variables.

[High prevalence of malnutrition among the indigenous early childhood population in Mexico. National Nutrition Survey 1999].

Background: Malnutrition among the indigenous early childhood population is still currently a serious public health problem, and given that no specific studies affording the possibility of knowing the nutritional condition of this population, the question was posed of identifying the prevalence of malnutrition among the indigenous population of Mexico by means of the 1999 National Nutrition Survey.

Methods: A rural sample was selected from the Northern, Central and Southern regions where 70% or more of the population speak an indigenous language. The weight/age, height/age and weight/height Score Z desviations was calculated for 3,236 preschoolers and 4,899 school-age children.
