Objective: To investigate the associations between sexual health dimensions, and overall health and well-being.
Methods: In February 2024, we systematically searched Scopus, PsyArticles, PsycINFO®, PubMed®, Web of Science and LILACS for articles reporting on associations between sexual health, health and well-being indicators. We applied no language restrictions and followed the 2020 Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines.
This study investigated the acute effects of barefoot (BF) running on biomechanical parameters and cytokine concentrations. Seventy-one habitually shod runners had biomechanical parameters evaluated during running shod (SH) and BF, while a sub-group of 19 runners had their inflammatory profile analyzed before and after a running session, using their habitual shoes or barefoot. Running BF changed spatiotemporal and joint kinematics, including the stride frequency (increased) and length (decreased), and foot strike pattern (more plantarflexed ankle at initial contact).

Here, we describe ABCRIi001-A, a hiPSC line generated from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of a 79-year-old female enrolled in a study for development of an ageing score (ALFA Score). PBMCs were reprogrammed using three Sendai virus-based reprogramming vectors (hKOS, hc-Myc, and hKlf4).

In recent years, efforts have been made to better understand the relationship between age and oxidative stress and further develop therapeutic strategies to minimize the impact of both events on age-related diseases. In this work, we review the impact of the oxidant and antioxidant systems during aging and disease development and discuss the crosstalk of oxidative stress and other aging processes, with a focus on studies conducted in elderly populations.

Despite significant progresses in the field, a comprehensive overview of the mechanisms governed by ATXN2 remains elusive. This multifaceted protein emerges as a key player in RNA metabolism, stress granules dynamics, endocytosis, calcium signaling, and the regulation of the circadian rhythm.

Methods: A systematic search was conducted for studies published until October 2022. Data search was conducted on EBSCO, MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials databases.
Background: Sexual health is an important component of quality of life in older adults. However, older adults often face barriers to attaining a fulfilling sexual life because of issues such as stigma, lack of information, or difficult access to adequate support.
Objective: We aimed to evaluate the user experience of a self-guided, smartphone-delivered program to promote sexual health among older adults.
Disease modifying therapies (DMTs) used for treating people with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (pwRRMS) target the immune system by different mechanisms of action. However, there is a lack of a comprehensive assessment of their effects on the immune system in comparison to treatment-naïve pwRRMS. Herein, we evaluated the numbers of circulating B cells, CD4 and CD8 T cells, regulatory T cells (Tregs), natural killer (NK) cells and NKT cells, and their subsets, in pwRRMS who were treatment-naïve or treated with different DMTs.

In addition, the difference in erosion protection conferred by artificial and human saliva was also evaluated. Sound-extracted human premolars (n = 20) had half of their surfaces protected with acid-resistant nail polish and were randomly distributed into two experimental groups (n = 10): teeth immersed in human saliva or artificial saliva.

The abnormally expanded polyglutamine protein produces aggregates and toxic species, causing neuronal dysfunction and neuronal death. The main symptoms of these disorders include progressive ataxia, motor dysfunction, oculomotor impairment, and swallowing problems.

A further aim was to characterize Portuguese Breast Cancer Survivors' (BCS) unmet supportive care needs, using these measures.
Methods: A convenient sample of BCS was recruited from five hospitals in Portugal and invited to complete SCNS-SF34-Pt and SCNS-BR8-Pt, EORTCQLQC30 and QLQBR23, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and the Patient Health-Questionnaire.
As life expectancy continues to increase worldwide, age-related dysfunction will largely impact our societies in the future. Aging is well established to promote the deterioration of cognitive function and is the primary risk factor for the development of prevalent neurological disorders. Even in the absence of dementia, age-related cognitive decline impacts specific types of memories and brain structures in humans and animal models.

Until now, nine different polyQ diseases have been described: Huntington's disease, dentatorubral-pallidoluysian atrophy, spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy and six types of spinocerebellar ataxias-1, 2, 3, 6, 7 and 17. The pathogenic expansion translates into an aberrant tract of glutamines in the encoded proteins, compromising several cellular functions and biological processes.
