[Successful Case of Coil Embolization for Repeated Pulmonary Arterial Bleeding in Postoperative Empyema with Bronchopleural Fistula].

A 78-year-old woman underwent right S6 segmentectomy and upper lobe partial resection for adenocarcinoma. About 11 months after the operation, she was diagnosed as having empyema with bronchopleural fistula and open thoracotomy was performed. From the following day, active hemorrhage from the pulmonary artery into the thoracic cavity(500~800 ml) repeated.

A comparison of uterine peristalsis in women with normal uteri and uterine leiomyoma by cine magnetic resonance imaging.

Objective: The non-pregnant uterus shows wave-like activity (uterine peristalsis). This pilot study was intended to determine: (1) whether uterine peristalsis during the menstrual cycle is detectable by cine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); (2) the effects of leiomyoma on uterine peristalsis.

Study Design: Mid-sagittal MRI was performed sequentially with T2-weighted single-shot fast spin-echo (SSFSE) in 3 normal ovulatory volunteers and 19 premenopausal women with uterine leiomyoma.

Yamanouchi magnetic compression anastomosis for bilioenteric anastomotic stricture after living-donor liver transplantation.

Yamanouchi magnetic compression anastomosis (YMCA) is a novel interventional method that creates an anastomosis between the bile duct and small intestine. The method uses two magnets to compress the stricture transmurally, causing gradual ischemic necrosis of the stricture. This ischemic necrosis creates an anastomosis between the two magnets.
