Biomass burning is a significant source of particulate matter (PM) in ambient air and its accurate source apportionment is a major concern for air quality. The discrimination between residential wood heating (RWH) and garden green waste burning (GWB) particulate matter (PM) is rarely achieved. The objective of this work was to evaluate the potential of non-targeted screening (NTS) analyses using HRMS (high resolution mass spectrometry) data to reveal discriminating potential molecular markers of both sources.

Implementing them in clinical routine frequently requires third-party applications beyond the treatment planning system (TPS), slowing down the workflow. To address this issue, a PSQA outcomes predictive model was carefully selected and validated before being fully integrated into the TPS.

Traditional wastewater treatment, designed to remove excess organic waste and nutrients, does not eliminate persistent toxic pollutants like PFAS, instead partitioning the chemicals between discharged effluent and the remaining solids in sludge. PFAS chemistry, the molecular size, the alkyl chain length, fluorine saturation, the charge of the head group, and the composition of the surrounding matrix influence PFAS partitioning between soil and water.

Despite a fast-growing empirical literature on the relationship between the minimum wage and health, previous studies generally use data from the 1990s to 2014. In this study, we estimate the impact of recent changes in state-level minimum wages on the self-reported health of adults in the post-Great Recession era.

Methods: For three planning methods (2A: 2-partial arc, 2AS: 2-partial arc with splitting, 4A: 4-partial arc), dosimetric results were compared with patient-specific QA performed with the electronic portal imaging device of the linac. A dataset was built with the pass/fail status of the plans and complexity metrics.
Faces are an important source of social signal throughout the lifespan. In adults, they have a prioritized access to the orienting system. Here we investigate when this effect emerges during development.

The impact of exercise training (ET) on RT efficiency is however largely unknown. Our study aims to investigate the interactions between ET and RT on prostate cancer growth.

For target volumes close to the surface, the inverse dosimetric planning can lead to very high fluences in the build-up region to properly cover the volume to be treated. Various radiotherapy modalities are currently used in parallel with additional protocols to enable a better control on the dose delivery (bolus, target volume margins).

At this medium energy range, however, the contribution of the photoelectric effect to absorbed dose is significant. Accurate dose calculation therefore requires a more detailed tissue definition because both density (ρ) and elemental composition (Z) affect the dose distribution.

Several vendors offer software that are mainly used for cranial, head and neck, and prostate cases. The present study will compare the contours produced by a radiation oncologist to the contours computed by different automated ABS algorithms for prostate bed cases, including femoral heads, bladder, and rectum.

This work investigated the use of the split exponential track length estimator (seTLE), a new kerma based Monte Carlo dose calculation method for preclinical radiotherapy using a small animal precision micro irradiator, the X-RAD 225Cx. Monte Carlo modelling of the irradiator with GATE/GEANT4 was extensively evaluated by comparing measurements and simulations for half-value layer, percent depth dose, off-axis profiles and output factors in water and water-equivalent material for seven circular fields, from 20 mm down to 1 mm in diameter.

Preclinical external beam radiotherapy irradiations used to be delivered with a static broad beam. To promote the transfer from animal to man, the preclinical treatment techniques dedicated to the animal have been optimized to be similar to those delivered to patients in clinical practice. In this context, preclinical irradiators have been developed.

Impacts of management on these ecosystems and timber supply from these woodlands are difficult to estimate because complex behavioral theory informs the owner's management decisions. The decision-making environment consists of exogenous market factors, internal cognitive processes, and social interactions with fellow landowners, foresters, and other rural community members.

The splitting strategy is applied to both the primary and the secondary emitted photons, triggered by either the MC events generator for primaries or the photon interactions generator for secondaries. Split photons are replaced by virtual particles for fast dose calculation using the exponential TLE.

First, a Monte Carlo model of a small animal irradiator, the Faxitron CP-160, was developed with GATE (Geant4 Application for Tomography Emission). To validate the model, simulated data were compared to depth dose and off-axis ratio profiles measured with a plane-parallel ionization chamber and Gafchromic(®) EBT films, respectively, in a solid water phantom.

The more realistic the simulations, the more straightforward the extrapolation of conclusions to clinical situations. In emission tomography, accurate numerical models of tomographs have been described and well validated under specific operating conditions (collimator, radionuclide, acquisition parameters, count rates, etc).

However, with the wider use of statins, severe side effects have also been reported to occur in statin-treated patients, especially myositis and rhabdomyolysis. Currently, however, statin-associated tendon impairment has only been described anecdotally.
