The study presents for the first time complex spinel NiFeO nanoparticles supported on nitrogen and phosphorus co-doped carbon nanosheets (NPCNS) prepared using sol gel and the carbonization of graphitic carbon nitride with lecithin as a highly active and durable electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction reaction. The physicochemical properties of complex spinel NiFeO on NPCNS and subsequent nanomaterials were investigated using techniques such as X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The electrochemical activity of the electrocatalysts was evaluated using hydrodynamic linear sweep voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and chronoamperometry.

Polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs) were included in the banned list of the Stockholm Convention due to their potential to provoke a wide range of adverse effects on living organisms and the environment. Many reviews have been written to clarify the state of knowledge and identify the research needs of this pollutant class. However, studies have yet to analyse the scientometric complexities of PCN literature.

Article Synopsis
  • - Neonicotinoid insecticides, known for their strong effectiveness against a wide range of pests, are commonly used worldwide, with dinotefuran being a notable recent addition due to its rapid absorption by plants.
  • - Despite their effectiveness, there is increasing concern about the negative impacts of neonicotinoids, like dinotefuran, on biodiversity and non-target organisms in agricultural environments.
  • - This review aims to summarize the current knowledge on dinotefuran's non-target effects, explore management strategies to minimize these impacts, identify research gaps, and propose future research directions for better risk assessment and responsible use.

Groundwater is the major source of drinking water in virtually all the regions of Nigeria, including the southwestern region. It is an indispensable source of drinking water that many individuals are dependent upon for daily activities in Nigeria. However, the spontaneous rise in various forms of industrialization and other anthropogenic activities of man within the southwestern region has immensely polluted these water sources.

Carbon nano-onions (CNOs) were successfully synthesized by employing the flame pyrolysis (FP) method, using flaxseed oil as a carbon source. The alcohol reduction method was used to prepare Pd/CNOs and Pd-Sn/CNOs electro-catalysts, with ethylene glycol as the solvent and reduction agent. The metal-nanoparticles were supported on the CNO surface without adjusting the pH of the solution.

The study was carried out to determine the presence and concentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in some personal care products in Nigeria. Commonly used consumer care products grouped into four classes, namely: plastics, cosmetics, disinfectants and washing products, were purchased from some supermarkets in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. The solid samples were pulverized and the PAHs and OCPs were extracted with n-hexane and dichloromethane, respectively using Soxhlet extraction method, while the liquid samples were extracted using liquid-liquid extraction method.

This study determined the presence and levels of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) of groundwater in Moro, Edun-Abon, Yakoyo and Ipetumodu communities in Ife-North Local Government Area of Osun State. This was with a view to create public awareness about the safety of groundwater as a source for domestic purposes (e.g.
