Introduction: To evaluate the long-term effect of corneal transplantation on mental health outcomes and to assess potential predictors of these outcomes.

Methods: For this multicentre prospective cohort study, patients awaiting corneal transplantation were recruited from 11 (academic) hospitals and eye clinics in the Netherlands. Participants (n = 238) completed the Centre for Epidemiological Studies Depression scale (CES-D), the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale-Anxiety subscale (HADS-A) and the Dutch ICF Activity Inventory Emotional Health subscale (DAI-EH) and Fatigue subscale (DAI-F) 1 month prior and 3, 6, 12 and 24 months after corneal transplantation.

To detect environmental factors, which may be possible risk factors in the disease course of Fuchs' endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD). Evaluation of patients with FECD registered in the FECD genetics database of the Center for Ophthalmology, University Hospital Cologne. For the evaluation, disease onset, central corneal thickness, best spectacle corrected visual acuity (BSCVA, logMAR), and modified Krachmer grading (grades 1-6) were correlated with the presence of diabetes mellitus (DM), body mass index (BMI), and smoking behavior.

Purpose: To compare quality of vision and vision-related quality of life (QOL) in patients undergoing Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) or ultrathin Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK).

Methods: Fifty-four eyes of 54 patients with Fuchs' dystrophy from six corneal clinics in the Netherlands were randomized to DMEK or ultrathin DSAEK and examined preoperatively, and 3, 6 and 12 months postoperatively. Main outcome measures were corneal higher-order aberrations (HOAs), contrast sensitivity, straylight and vision-related QOL.

Purpose: To report the long-term follow-up (12 years) of a 36-year-old male patient with crystalline keratopathy of both eyes, diagnosed with monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS). Complete ophthalmic, systemic, and corneal immunohistochemical evaluations were performed.

Observations: Slit-lamp examination revealed bilateral fine iridescent confluent crystalline deposits in all layers of the cornea, both peripherally and centrally.

Purpose: To compare best spectacle-corrected visual acuity (BSCVA), endothelial cell density (ECD), refractive astigmatism, and complications after Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) and ultrathin Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (UT-DSAEK).

Design: Prospective, multicenter randomized controlled trial.

Participants: Fifty-four pseudophakic eyes of 54 patients with corneal endothelial dysfunction resulting from Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy were enrolled in 6 corneal centers in The Netherlands.

Purpose: To present 4 cases of postoperative repositioning of inverted grafts after Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK).

Methods: Retrospective case reports of 4 patients presenting with subtotal to total graft detachment after DMEK, most probably owing to upside-down graft positioning. Graft repositioning was performed 1 to 14 days after initial DMEK surgery.

Design: Observational case report.

Methods: A complete ophthalmic and systemic evaluation was performed.
