Fluoxetine or Venlafaxine for Early Post Stroke Depression.

Context: Post stroke depression (PSD) is an under diagnosed morbidity of stroke and can negatively affect the prognosis of the patient.

Aims: We intended to study the prevalence of PSD and the commonly used anti-depressants and their outcome in patients with PSD.

Settings And Design: A prospective observational study was conducted in the patients admitted to the stroke unit of a tertiary care centre.

A rare case of signet ring cell lymphoma: Diagnosis aided by immunofluorescent staining.

Signet ring cell lymphomas are the proliferations of malignant lymphoid cells containing cytoplasmic vacuoles or globules which displace the nuclei, imparting it a signet ring appearance. This rare tumor is a variant of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Signet ring appearance is due to cytoplasmic accumulation of immunoglobulin or vacuoles derived from multivesicular bodies.

Breast carcinoma with numerous large "thanatosomes".

Intracytoplasmic and stromal eosinophilic hyaline globules (HGs) have been observed in various neoplastic and nonneoplastic conditions. Thanatosomes are also such HGs seen invariably associated with increased apoptosis and may contain nuclear fragments, occasionally observed in high-grade tumors. We are reporting a case of high-grade breast carcinoma with this striking morphological feature.

HIV infection presenting as bone marrow cryptococcosis.

Disseminated cryptococcal infection is an uncommon initial manifestation in immunocompromised patients. We report a rare case of a 40-year-old female presenting with fever and burning epigastrium. Peripheral blood film revealed a leukoerythroblastic picture with thrombocytopenia.

A Cross-sectional Study of Direct Immunofluorescence in the Diagnosis of Immunobullous Dermatoses.

Background: Autoimmune blistering diseases are a group of bullous disorders characterized by pathogenic antibodies directed at the target antigens, which are components of the desmosomes or adhesion complex at the dermoepidermal junction. Direct immunofluorescence (DIF) is invaluable in the diagnosis of these lesions.

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the sensitivity of DIF in immunobullous dermatoses and to study the pattern of DIF.

Myoepithelioma of minor salivary glands - A diagnostic challenge: Report of three cases with varied histomorphology.

Myoepitheliomas are rare, benign neoplasms affecting predominantly parotid gland and to a lesser extent minor salivary glands. In this article we have reported three cases with different histomorphological patterns. Two cases are from oral cavity and one from sinonasal tract, a very rare location.

Role of red cell distribution width in classifying microcytic hypochromic anaemia.

Red cell distribution width (RDW) is an automated laboratory determination of red cell anisocytosis. The aim of the study was to analyse the role of RDW in differentiating iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) from thalassaemia trait. There were 500 patients who were screened for the study.

Fine needle aspiration cytology diagnosis of paravertebral extraosseus Ewing's sarcoma.

Extraskeletal Ewing's sarcoma (EES) is a rare tumor. Paravertebral Ewing's sarcoma requires more extensive therapy as compared to Ewing's sarcoma of bone. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) plays an important role in the early diagnosis of these cases.

A cytological and histomorphological case study of an uncommon breast carcinoma: Invasive papillary type.

Pure papillary carcinoma of the breast is a rare tumour affecting elderly postmenopausal women. We report one case in a relatively younger woman presenting with a clinically benign breast lump.The tumour showed extensive apocrine metaplasia.

Tumoral calcinosis: a series of six cases with review of pathogenesis and histopathological diagnosis.

Six cases of tumoral calcinosis detected in a short period of time are reported. All the cases were in late adults and mostly in females. Most lesions were in inactive late stage.

ENDOTHELIAL CELL CULTURE AND SEEDING OF PROSTHETIC VASCULAR GRAFTS: AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY.

Current synthetic vascular prostheses do not acquire lining of vascular endothelium in humans or dogs. Endothelial seeding of vascular grafts has been proposed as a means of reducing the thrombogenicity of these grafts. We examined feasibility of cultivating endothelial cells (EC) by tissue culture technique and their subsequent seeding onto small diameter polytetra fluoroethylene (PTFE) grafts.

Rosai-Dorfman disease presenting as a meningioma.

This report documents an unusal case of extranodal sinus histiocytosis (Rosai-Dorfman disease) which produced a solitary intracranial mass lesion that was diagnosed clinically and radiologically as a meningioma. Morphological features have been described and literature extensively reviewed.
