Objectives: This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of pegylated erythropoietin and to compare its effects with the effects of darbepoetin alfa on anemia of chronic kidney patients on maintenance hemodialysis having erythropoietin hyporesponsiveness.
Methods: Forty adult patients of chronic kidney disease(CKD) with erythropoietin hyporesponsiveness undergoing maintenance hemodialysis were included in the study. These patients were randomly divided into two groups, Group A consisting of 20 patients who received Subcutaneous Pegylated erythropoietin at a dose of 0.
Objectives: Continuous renal replacement therapies (CRRT) are the most favoured form of renal replacement therapies (RRT) in patients of decompensated liver cirrhosis and hepatorenal syndrome (HRS). The role of CRRT has been limited only to acute kidney injury and HRS in prior studies. We therefore aimed to evaluate the role of two different modes of CRRT- CVVHDF and CAVHDF in patients of hepatic failure and / or hepatorenal syndrome in reducing hyperbilirubinemia, uremia and fluid overload.

Introduction: Disorders of mineral and bone metabolism in chronic kidney disease (CKD) are associated with increased risk for cardiovascular calcification and osteoporosis. Anemia has been associated with progressive loss of kidney function and increased mortality. Ferric citrate was recently developed, primarily as a novel oral, non-calcium phosphate binder, which has also shown to replenish the iron deficient state of the CKD patients.

Most common complications are sepsis, shock, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), hepatitis, pre renal azotemia and multi organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS).

Various studies show contradictory results about the role of amount, type and duration of alcohol exposure in determining the risk to develop ALD with ethnic variations in susceptibility to develop ALD and South Asians are shown to be more prone to develop ALD. This study was carried out to evaluate clinical profile of ALD in Indian population and to find out the correlation of disease severity and outcome with alcohol intake.

However there is limited data regarding their role in middle aged individuals with preserved renal functions. Hence this study.

Aims And Objectives: The present study was undertaken to evaluate the usefulness of pleural fluid cholinesterase (PChE) level in pleural fluid and its ratio to serum cholinesterase (P/SChE) in order to differentiate transudates and exudates and to compare their diagnostic efficacy with the Light's criteria.
Material And Methods: A total of 110 patients of pleural effusion of diverse etiology were studied. Eighty patients were of exudative pleural effusion of tubercular, malignant or parapneumonic origin and 30 patients were of transudative effusion.
A simple and sensitive (2 ng/ml) HPLC method with fluorescence detection has been developed to measure serum concentrations of centchroman, a new nonsteroidal antifertility agent. The method was sufficiently sensitive to follow the drug over 21 days in human volunteers. Pharmacokinetic parameters of centchroman were determined after a single oral dose of 60 mg (2 x 30-mg tablets) in two healthy female volunteers.
