This study presents the green synthesis and comprehensive characterization of platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs) using Desmostachya bipinnata (Db) extract, incorporated into two innovative mouthwash formulations (MW1 and MW2). UV-Vis spectroscopy confirmed the successful synthesis of PtNPs, with distinct absorption peaks between 250 and 600 nm. Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy identified hydroxyl and carbonyl functional groups, critical for the bioreduction and stabilization of PtNPs.

Article Synopsis
  • Oral verrucous lesions (OVLs) are challenging to diagnose due to varying histopathological features, and this study investigates Mcm-2 and Ki-67 as markers to help differentiate these lesions from oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC).
  • Using 90 paraffin-embedded tissue samples, the researchers assessed the expression levels of Mcm-2 and Ki-67, alongside patient survival data, employing statistical methods for analysis.
  • Findings revealed that Mcm-2 is a more sensitive and prognostic indicator than Ki-67, with higher overexpression in verrucous lesions and improved survival rates in verrucous squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC) compared to conventional OSCC, suggesting its potential for better diagnosis

Introduction Non-carious cervical lesions (NCCLs) are structural deformities or tissue loss in the cervical region of teeth, which are closer to the gum line that do not result from caries (tooth decay). On the tooth enamel at the gingival margin, these lesions are frequently seen as V- or U-shaped notches. The causes of NCCLs are multifaceted and involve intricate relationships between chemical, mechanical, and biological elements.
