The yellow fever virus (YFV) is an emerging RNA virus and has caused large outbreaks in Africa and Central and South America. The virus is often transmitted through infected mosquitoes and spreads from area to area because of international travel. Being an acute viral hemorrhagic disease, yellow fever can be prevented by an effective, safe, and reliable vaccine, but not be eliminated.

We designed and efficiently synthesized a series of quinazolin-4-amine-SCH-coumarin conjugated compounds. Our data of the virus-cell-based assay show five new conjugates inhibit chikungunya virus with EC values as potent as 1.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLateral flow assay (LFA) has been a valuable diagnostic tool in many important fields where rapid, simple, and on-site detection is required, for applications such as pregnancy tests and infectious disease prevention. Currently, two types of LFAs are available: lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) and nucleic acid lateral flow assay (NALFA). Both are generally used for the testing of proteins and nucleic acids.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTo date, various affinity-based protein labeling probes have been developed and applied in biological research to modify endogenous proteins in cell lysates and on the cell surface. However, the reactive groups on the labeling probes are also the cause of probe instability and nonselective labeling in a more complex environment, e. g.

However, this approach cannot be used for proteins that do not possess enzymatic activities. In this article, we show that fluorogenic probes with a self-immolative difluorophenyl ester linker can mimic the bond disassembly processes of fluorogenic enzyme substrates for the rapid analysis of nonenzymatic proteins.

Thus 20 new conjugated compounds in the families of bis(benzofuran-1,3-thiazolidin-4-one)s and bis(benzofuran-1,3-thiazinan-4-one)s were designed based on the structural features of suramin. These new compounds were synthesized by chemical methods and their structures were confirmed spectroscopically.
