Comparative study of small incision refractive lenticule extraction with 5 mm versus 6.5 mm optic zone for myopia.

Purpose: To compare residual stromal thickness (RST) in eyes undergoing small incision refractive lenticule extraction (SMILE) using a lenticular diameter of 6.5 mm versus those with a diameter of 5 mm.

Methods: In This Retrospective: comparative case series.

Toric multifocal intraocular lens implantation in a case of bilateral anterior and posterior lenticonus in Alport syndrome.

We report the first case of toric multifocal intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in both the eyes of a young patient of Alport syndrome with anterior and posterior lenticonus with a successful outcome. An 18-year-old female patient presented with progressively blurred vision in both eyes since 4-5 years not improving with glasses. Refraction showed high myopia with astigmatism; however, the vision did not improve beyond 6/60 with glasses correction.

Vertical fixation with fibrin glue-assisted secondary posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation in a case of surgical aphakia.

We report the first case of vertical fixation by fibrin glue-assisted secondary posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation in a case of surgical aphakia. Advantages of vertical fixation are discussed.

Comparison of central corneal thickness measurements with the Galilei dual Scheimpflug analyzer and ultrasound pachymetry.

Purpose: To compare corneal pachymetry assessment by the Galilei dual Scheimpflug analyzer with that done by ultrasound (US) pachymetry.

Materials And Methods: Forty six patients (92 eyes) were subjected to corneal pachymetry assessment by Galilei dual Scheimpflug analyzer and US. All the readings were taken by a single operator.

Yellow lid sign in Wegener's granulomatosis.

Orbital manifestations in Wegener's granulomatosis develop in over 50% of patients. Ischemic vasculitis and optic nerve compression result in visual impairment. This case report highlights the importance of the yellow lid sign in the diagnosis of orbital granulomatosis as well as provides an explanation for the reversal of this phenomenon.

The prevalence of nystagmus: the Leicestershire nystagmus survey.

Purpose: Nystagmus, which can be infantile (congenital) or acquired, affects all ages. The prevalence of nystagmus in the general population is unknown. New genetic research and therapeutic modalities are emerging.

Capsular block syndrome presenting with a hyperopic shift.

We report a case of late postoperative capsular block syndrome presenting with a hyperopic shift and discuss possible causes of this unusual presentation.

Primary vitrectomy for combined rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and choroidal detachment with or without oral corticosteroids: a pilot study.

Purpose: The occurrence of choroidal detachment (CD) in eyes with primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) is relatively uncommon (2%-4.5%). Recent reports suggest that primary vitrectomy yields better anatomic success than scleral buckling.

Visual outcome after discontinuation of corticosteroids in atypical severe central serous chorioretinopathy.

Purpose: To elucidate the effect of discontinuation of corticosteroids in patients with atypical severe central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) on retinal reattachment, resolution of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) leaks, and improvement in visual acuity (VA).

Design: Prospective, noncomparative, observational case series.

Participants: Twenty-four eyes of 17 patients who were being treated with corticosteroids for atypical severe CSC.

Indocyanine green dye-enhanced transpupillary thermotherapy of classic subfoveal choroidal neovascularization.

Background And Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of indocyanine green dye-enhanced transpupillary thermotherapy for the treatment of classic subfoveal choroidal neovascular membrane (CNVM) with differing etiologies.

Patients And Methods: Nine eyes of 9 patients with classic subfoveal CNVM with different etiologies that was treated with indocyanine green dye-enhanced transpupillary thermotherapy were prospectively studied. All patients underwent pretreatment fluorescein angiography.

Intraocular cysticercosis: clinical characteristics and visual outcome after vitreoretinal surgery.

Purpose: To report the clinical characteristics of, discuss the surgical options for, and analyze the factors affecting the anatomic and visual outcome of intraocular cysticercosis.

Design: Retrospective, noncomparative, interventional case series.

Participants: Forty-five eyes of 44 Indian patients with posterior segment intraocular cysticercosis.
