In this study, we compared the occurrence, relative abundance (RA), and density (RD) of simple sequence repeats (SSRs) among the lineages of human pathogenic Cryptococcus gattii using an in-silico approach to gain a deeper understanding of the structure and evolution of their genomes. C. gattii isolate MF34 showed the highest RA and RD of SSRs in both the genomic and transcriptomic sequences, followed by isolate WM276.

Cyclophosphamide, an alkylating agent, has rarely been observed to cause a bluish discoloration of nails, an occurrence that is typically underreported. We describe the case of a middle-aged male undergoing dexamethasone-cyclophosphamide pulse therapy for pemphigus foliaceus, who exhibited bluish-gray discoloration of the nails. It is crucial to differentiate this presentation from other conditions such as nail apparatus melanoma (NAM), which may manifest in a slightly different manner.

Pemphigus vulgaris is a chronic autoimmune disease of the skin caused by the production of autoantibodies targeting desmogleins 1 and 3 usually presenting in individuals with an average age of onset of approximately 40 years. A 35-year-old obese, diabetic woman presented with fluid-filled lesions over her body for three months along with erosions and painful ulcers in her mouth and genital area for two months. Based on clinical and histopathological studies, the patient was diagnosed as a case of pemphigus vulgaris.

Two arsenic (As) hyper-tolerant bacterial strains NM01 Paracoccus versutus and NM04 Aeromonas caviae were isolated from As polluted site of West Bengal, India. The strains not only possess the potential to tolerate up to 20,000 mgl As(V) and 10,000 mgl As(III) but also possess plant growth promoting (PGP) traits like phosphate solubilization, siderophore production, IAA production. Greenhouse pot experiments were conducted to assess the effect of rhizospheric inoculation of both the strains individually and in consortia in As accumulation by Adiantum capillus-veneries.

Nutrients are the finite natural resources that are essential for productivity and development of rice and its deficiency causes compromised yield along with reduced immunity against several biotic and abiotic stresses. In this study, the potential of Trichoderma reesei has been investigated as a biofertilizer (BF) to ameliorate nutrient stress in different rice cultivars at physiological, biochemical and molecular levels. The results indicated that cultivar Heena is much more compatible with BF as compared to cultivar Kiran at 50% nutrient limiting condition.

Despite the vast exploration of endophytic microbes for growth enhancement in various crops, knowledge about their impact on the production of therapeutically important secondary metabolites is scarce. In the current investigation, chitinolytic bacterial endophytes were isolated from selected medicinal plants and assessed for their mycolytic as well as plant growth promoting potentials. Among them the two most efficient bacterial endophytes namely Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (MPE20) and Pseudomonas fluorescens (MPE115) individually as well as in combination were able to modulate withanolide biosynthetic pathway and tolerance against Alternaria alternata in Withania somnifera.
