A phase I study of ceftizoxime, a new cephalosporin, was performed in 29 subjects. No abnormalities were observed in subjective symptoms, laboratory test results, or physical test results at estimated therapeutic doses of 500 mg intramuscularly, 500 and 1000 mg intravenously, and 2000 mg drip infusion. It is concluded, therefore, that the drug is safe for clinical use.

A 14q + chromosome was found in cells from either source, although each contained a different clone. Other karyotypic abnormalities present in common included 2dir dup (1q) (q21 leads to q32), 3q+, 6p--, +12, +mar.

He was diagnosed as a case of what Stout called benign mesenchymoma. Some discussion is also made of the tumor pathology in terms of genetic factors, predirective sites, age range, sex differences and therapy.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFUsing embryos of the Japanese newt, Cynops pyrrhogaster, homoiogenetic and heterogenetic induction were investigated in the partially mesodermaelzed presumptive ectoderm. Half of the isolated presumptive ectoderm was placed in contact with the swimbladder of the crucian carp, Carasius auratus, for 15 or 60 min, while the other half was stained with Nile blue sulfate at the same time. The distribution of the stained cells in the tissues evoked in the explants was examined after cultivation for 10 days.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFCytochemical studies of glycogen of oral mucosa cells have been made on the smears by freeze-drying and PAS staining. The specimens were obtained from different areas of oral cavity of 77 human subjects and an attempt was made to find some interrelation amoung glycogen deposition, keratinization and inflammation. The largest glycogen deposition was found in the mucosa cells from mouth floor and cheek, a little in those from gingiva and quite a small or no glycogen in those from mucosa of hard palate and tongue.
