Patient-Reported Outcomes after Laser Ablation for Bladder Tumours Compared to Transurethral Resection-A Prospective Study.

The standard procedure for diagnosis and treatment of bladder tumours, transurethral resection of bladder tumour (TURBT), is associated with a complication rate of up to 26% and potentially has severe influence on patient-reported outcomes (PRO). Outpatient transurethral laser ablation (TULA) is an emerging new modality that is less invasive with a lower risk of complications and, thereby, possibly enhanced PRO. We collected PRO following transurethral procedures in treatment of bladder tumours to evaluate any clinically relevant differences in symptoms and side effects.

Danish guidelines on muscle invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) recommend neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) for non-metastatic patients fit for cisplatin-based chemotherapy. The current indication is urothelial MIBC in patients less than 75 years old with no metastasis on imaging and normal renal function (GFR ≥ 60 ml/min). Data from the Danish Bladder Cancer Database (DaBlaCa-Data) reveals that only 40-50% of MIBC patients below 75 years of age receive NAC prior to cystectomy.

Objective: The aim of this study was to estimate the proportion of patients who were referred to a second CPP, were diagnosed with cancer or died within 6 months after receiving a negative result from clinical investigation through an initial CPP.

Independent effects of endurance training and weight loss on peak fat oxidation in moderately overweight men: a randomized controlled trial.

Endurance training increases peak fat oxidation (PFO) during exercise, but whether this is independent of changes in body weight is not known. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of endurance training with or without weight loss or a diet-induced weight loss on PFO and on key skeletal muscle mitochondrial proteins involved in fat oxidation. Sixty moderately overweight, sedentary but otherwise healthy men were randomized to 12 wk of training (T), diet (D), training and increased caloric intake (T-iD), or continuous sedentary control (C).

Impact of physical inactivity on adipose tissue low-grade inflammation in first-degree relatives of type 2 diabetic patients.

Objective: First-degree relatives (FDRs) of patients with type 2 diabetes may exhibit a disproportionately elevated risk of developing insulin resistance, obesity, and type 2 diabetes when exposed to physical inactivity, which to some unknown extent may involve low-grade inflammation. We investigated whether subjects who are nonobese FDRs show signs of low-grade inflammation before or after exposure to short-term physical inactivity.

Effects of physical training on endothelial function and limb blood flow in type 2 diabetes.

The term "endothelial dysfunction" refers to the inability or attenuated effect of the endothelial cells in participating in the relaxation of the adjacent smooth muscle, thus causing less vasodilation. Although endothelial dysfunction is often seen in patients with type 2 diabetes, it does not necessarily follow that insulin resistance and (or) hyperglycemia is causing the inability to respond properly to vasodilatory stimuli. Rather, this could be related to the impact of concomitant cardiovascular risk factors that are almost invariably present in patients with type 2 diabetes.
