The benefit of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in ovarian cancer remains controversial, hindering the development of rational combination therapies based on hyperthermia (HT). This study reports the preliminary results of the neoadjuvant HIPEC (NHIPEC) trial (ChiCTR2000038173), demonstrating enhanced tumor response in high-grade serous ovarian cancer with NHIPEC. Through single-cell RNA sequencing analysis, we identified both homogeneous and heterogeneous cellular responses to HT within the tumor and microenvironment.

Copper deficiency, commonly observed in myocardial infarction, leads to cardiomyocyte loss and cardiac dysfunction, yet the mechanism driving copper efflux remains unclear. To further elucidate the relationship between copper transporters and cardiac copper efflux during chronic myocardial ischemia, a rhesus monkey model was established by performing the permanent ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery. A dramatic decrease in copper concentration within ischemic cardiomyocytes was observed alongside declining cardiac function.

Zika virus (ZIKV) infection can result in a birth defect of the brain called microcephaly and other severe fetal brain defects. ZIKV enters the susceptible host cells by endocytosis, which is mediated by the interaction of the envelope (E) glycoprotein with cellular surface receptor molecules. However, the cellular factors that used by the ZIKV to gain access to host cells remains elusive.

Background: Life's Simple 7 (LS7), developed by the American Heart Association, addresses seven key health behaviors and relationship factors. Although LS7 has been studied in relation to various chronic diseases, its association with arthritis remains unclear. This study seeks to investigate the association between LS7 and arthritis, with particular emphasis on the mediating role of body fat percentage (BFP).

Background: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is one of the most serious mental disorders affecting adolescents worldwide. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is widely acknowledged as a first-line treatment for severe depression, but the clinical response varies. Neutrophils and platelets are both related to the progression of MDD.

Iron-based materials have demonstrated significant efficacy in catalyzing hydrogen peroxide (HO) for the removal of antibiotics from aquatic environments. Green rust (GR), a hybrid valence state iron-based catalyst, was synthesized. By exploiting the catalytic properties of glucose oxidase (GOx) to generate HO from glucose (Glu), a GR-GOx/Glu system for the removal of recalcitrant organic compound 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) was constructed.

  • Nitrogen oxide (NO) and its component nitrogen dioxide (NO2) are significant air pollutants, making their monitoring essential for environmental health.
  • The Catboost model used near-real-time data from the Sentinel-5P satellite to accurately estimate near-surface NO concentrations in Guangdong Province, achieving high performance metrics including a coefficient of determination of 0.91.
  • The study found a U-shaped monthly trend in NO concentrations, with winter values highest and summer values lowest, alongside higher concentrations in urban, densely populated regions compared to areas focused on agriculture and new energy.

Objective: Limited research exists on the use of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for adolescents with major depressive disorder (MDD). This study investigates the effects of ECT on inflammatory markers in adolescents aged 13-18 suffering from severe MDD, evaluating its efficacy in modulating cellular inflammatory markers and ameliorating depressive symptoms.

Methods: A cohort of 38 adolescents with severe MDD received standard antidepressant therapy along with 6-8 ECT sessions spanning two weeks.

Chevrel-type superatoms refer to the ligated transition metal chalcogenide clusters MEL, where the octahedral M is face-capped with cubic chalcogen E (E = S/Se/Te). Most transition metals can form such superatoms and many organic and inorganic ligands can be substituted in solution reactions, which allows these atomic precision species to be easily functionalized and their properties to be tunable. No test was reported for substituting the chalcogens with pnicogens in this class of materials.

Artificial SEI is one of the effective strategies to improve lithium dendrites and suppress side reactions. However, the role of SEI components and distribution on the modification of the lithium metal anode remains unclear. Therefore, in this study, the oxygen-sulfur (O-S) component and its distribution in SEI were modulated by designing experiments, and then the mechanism of its action was deeply investigated.

  • Silicon (Si) is a promising anode material for lithium-ion batteries, but its volume expansion limits its practical use.
  • Embedding Si nanoparticles in a porous carbon framework can help manage this expansion, with pore volume being a key factor affecting performance.
  • The study highlights that the right balance of pore volume in carbon substrates is crucial for optimizing Si loadings, maintaining structural stability, and ensuring efficient electron and ion diffusion, ultimately leading to better battery performance.

Silicon monoxide (SiO) has attracted considerable interest as anode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). However, their poor initial Coulombic efficiency (ICE) and conductivity limit large-scale applications. Prelithiation and carbon-coating are common and effective strategies in industry for enhancing the electrochemical performance of SiO.

High spatiotemporal resolution data on near-surface ozone concentration distribution is of great significance for monitoring and controlling atmospheric ozone pollution and improving the living environment. Using TROPOMI-L3 NO, HCHO products, and ERA5-land high-resolution data as estimation variables, an XGBoost-LME model was constructed to estimate the near-surface ozone concentration in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region. The results showed that: ① Through correlation analysis, surface 2 m temperature (T2M), 2 m dewpoint temperature (D2M), surface solar radiation downwards (SSRD), tropospheric formaldehyde (HCHO), and tropospheric nitrogen dioxide (NO) were important factors affecting the near-surface ozone concentration in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region.

In order to improve the biological effect of proton therapy, the authors first propose a new method of boron-based proton-enhanced radiotherapy in a " ternary " radiotherapy mode, based on the existing sensitizing effect of proton radiotherapy: i.e, Boron-based mediators (B and B) induce the proton-hydrogen-boron fusion reaction of the low-energy protons arriving at the Bragg peak region of the tumor target area (p+B→3α) and thermal neutron capture (B+n→Li(0.84 MeV)+He(1.

Solar energy is widely used in photovoltaic power generation as a kind of clean energy. However, the liquid film, frosting, and icing on the photovoltaic module seriously limit the efficiency of photovoltaic power generation. We developed a composite coating (Y6-NanoSH) by combining an in situ photothermal and transparent Y6 organic film with a nanosuperhydrophobic material.

The regenerative treatment of infectious vertical bone defects remains difficult and challenging today. Current clinical treatments are limited in their ability to control bacteria and infection, which is unfavorable for new bone formation and calls for a new type of material with excellent osteogenic and antibacterial properties. Here a multifunctional scaffold is synthesized that mimics natural bone nanostructures by incorporating silver nanowires into a hierarchical, intrafibrillar mineralized collagen matrix (IMC/AgNWs), to achieve the therapeutic goals of inhibiting bacterial activity and promoting infectious alveolar bone augmentation in rats and beagle dogs.
