A rapidly growing marine derived Bacillus sp. strain NQ-11/A2, identified as Bacillus megaterium, accumulated 61% polyhydroxyalkanoate by weight. Diverse carbon sources served as substrates for the accumulation of short chain length polyhydroxyalkanoate.
