The prevalent presence of naphthalene contamination in aquatic ecosystems is a significant concern due to its carcinogenic and priority pollutant properties. This study focuses on the synthesis of magnetized chitosan/alginate/pomegranate peel extract nanocomposites (FeO/PPE/Cs-Alg), was characterized by Zeta potential, vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses. The results predicted that the successfully synthesis of Fe3O4/PPE/Cs-Alg.

Article Synopsis
  • The Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) merges Artificial Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic to enhance learning speed and interpret complex patterns, especially in water quality modeling.
  • The study focuses on predicting Cadmium levels in groundwater by comparing two methods, ANFIS-FCM and ANFIS-SUB, using key parameters like TDS, EC, turbidity, and pH.
  • Results showed that the ANFIS-FCM model performed slightly better than ANFIS-SUB, achieving a high determination coefficient (R) of 0.983, indicating its predictions closely matched the actual data.

The contamination of water due to heavy metals (HMs) is a big concern for humankind; particularly in developing countries. This research is a systematic review, conducted by searching google scholar, Web of Science, Science Direct, PubMed, Springer, and Scopus databases for related published papers from 2010 to July 2021, resulting in including 40 articles. Among the analyzed HMs in the presented review, the average content of Cr, Pb, Ba, Al, As, Zn, and Cd exceeded the permissible limits suggested by the World Health Organization (WHO) and 1,053 Iranian standards.

Purpose: This study was designed to measure the concentrations of heavy (Pb, Cu, Fe, Ni, and Zn) metals in water, soil, and frequently edible leafy vegetables in the Iranian population and assessed the carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic health risk in consumers.

Methods: The samples of soil, water, and vegetables were collected from forms near the Tehran-Mashhad highway in Neyshabur, Iran. The content of heavy metals in the samples was analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry.

We investigated the association of some environmental and economic factors and the global distribution indicators of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the number of cases and deaths is higher in high-income countries located in higher latitudes and colder climates, further studies are required to shed light on this matter.

Background: A rising trend for incidence of multiple sclerosis (MS) has been observed during the recent years in Iran. Several factors have been investigated as the reason, but socioeconomic determinants have been neglected. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between Human Development Index (HDI), income and education and MS prevalence in the provinces of Iran.
