Background: Although both the lateral sagittal and costoclavicular approaches are applied at the cord level in the infraclavicular region, there is a major difference between the distributions of the two approaches. We aimed to investigate the effects of this different distribution on tissue perfusion and oxygenation.

Methods: Sixty patients undergoing elective elbow, forearm, wrist and hand surgery under infraclavicular brachial plexus block were included in the study.

Lung cancer associated with cystic airspaces: A contemporary review.

Lung cancers associated with cystic airspaces (LCCAs) are a rare and relatively novel concept analyzed in various case reports and retrospective studies. In this review, it was our aim to investigate the morphologic, imaging, and clinicopathologic characteristics of this entity, as well as its natural course in light of the current literature. Objectives: Awareness of vitamin D (vit D) deficiency or insufficiency has increased alongside the rising prevalence of allergic diseases worldwide. We aimed to evaluate vit D levels in infants with allergic proctocolitis (AP) to explore a possible relationship between AP and vit D status.

Methods: This prospective, observational, case-control study was conducted between January 2020 and December 2023, including infants aged 6 months and younger diagnosed with AP (AP group) and healthy infants of the same age (control group).

Establishing an interhospital ECMO-transport program during a pandemic: Key lessons learned.

Background: The emergence of COVID-19 has amplified the importance of efficient patient transfer, leading to the idea of inter-hospital ECMO transport programs. However, there are limited studies on ECMO transfer protocols and experiences during COVID pandemic. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness our transport program and provide insights into establishing and maintaining ECMO programs.

Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a clinical condition that arises acutely in the pancreas through various inflammatory pathways due to multiple causes. Turkish Society of Gastroenterology Pancreas Working Group developed comprehensive guidance statements regarding the management of AP that include its epidemiology, etiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic criteria, disease severity, treatment, prognosis, local and systemic complications. The statements were developed through literature review, deliberation, and consensus opinion.

Purpose Of Review: This review aims to explore the relationship between Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and nutrition. ADHD, a neurodevelopmental disorder, has been examined in relation to dietary factors through various metabolic pathways, with a focus on the role of nutrition in symptom management. Unhealthy dietary patterns, particularly those characteristics of Western diets, are believed to exacerbate ADHD symptoms through these mechanisms.

Multicenter evaluation of ceftazidime-avibactam use in carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae bloodstream infections in OXA-48 endemic regions.

Data in the literature on the use of ceftazidime-avibactam (CAZ-AVI) in carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae bloodstream infections (CRKP-BSIs) are limited especially in OXA-48 (Oxacillinase-48) predominant regions. Our study aimed to evaluate the effect of CAZ-AVI use on outcomes in CRKP-BSIs in Turkey, where OXA-48 is endemic. A multicenter retrospective observational study was conducted between January 2017 and September 2021.

Three-dimensional, multi-wavelength beam formation with integrated metasurface optics for Sr laser cooling.

We demonstrate the formation of a complex, multi-wavelength, three-dimensional laser beam configuration with integrated metasurface (MS) optics. Our experiments support the development of a compact Sr optical-lattice clock, which leverages magneto-optical trapping at 461 nm and 689 nm without bulk free-space optics. We integrate six mm-scale metasurfaces on a fused silica substrate and illuminate them with light from optical fibers.

The effect of anesthesia methods on the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in patients undergoing forearm surgery: A monocentric and retrospective study.

The selected anesthesia method may modulate the inflammatory response and surgical results in the inflammatory process that occurs during surgical trauma. In this retrospective study, we aimed to compare the anti-inflammatory effects of general anesthesia and peripheral nerve block (infraclavicular block).

Objective: The aim of the idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM) consensus study was to evaluate the etiology, diagnostic steps, and differential diagnosis and propose a widely accepted clinical classification of this mysterious breast disease.

Method: The organization of a national IGM consensus was decided by the joint evaluation of the Turkish Federation of Breast Diseases Societies, SENATURK, and the Society of Breast Surgery. First, a working group of 11 members was formed, and a survey and workshop were organized to reach a common consensus.

Validation of a novel medical device (Chloe SED®) for the administration of analgesia during manual vacuum aspiration: a randomized controlled non-inferiority pilot study.

Introduction: Millions of women worldwide annually undergo manual vacuum aspiration (MVA) with no pain medication, which is a violation of their basic human dignity. We designed a novel device (Chloe SED®) to administer paracervical block (PCB) during MVA in countries where pain medication is not typically given due to the high cost of the necessary tools.

Methods: We conducted a single-blinded, randomized controlled non-inferiority trial including 61 patients at two hospitals in Kisumu, Kenya, to validate Chloe SED® for administration of PCB during MVA.

The Relationship of Carotid and Brachial Artery Wall Thickness Measurement with Cardiovascular Risk Scoring in Individuals Living with HIV.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate whether human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection affects carotid and brachial artery wall thickness and whether measurement of this thickness contributes to traditional cardiovascular risk scoring in individuals living with HIV.

Materials And Methods: The patient group included people living with HIV who were followed up in the infectious disease clinic, and the control group included patients without HIV. In both groups, carotid artery intima-media thickness (cIMT) was measured with B-mode ultrasonography (B-USG).
