Methods: Patients hospitalized for COVID-19 and enrolled in the Therapeutics for Inpatients with COVID-19 (TICO) platform trial at 114 international sites between August 2020 and November 2021 were included in a prospective cohort study. We categorized EPCs into 39 event types within 9 categories and estimated their frequency through day 28 and their association with clinical outcomes through day 90.
In this randomised, controlled study in 14 low- and middle-income countries, individuals taking dolutegravir with darunavir/ritonavir for 48 weeks had a greater increase in systolic and diastolic blood pressure than individuals taking two nucleoside reverse transcriptase with darunavir/ritonavir. We studied DNA methylation in blood to estimate cellular aging in persons living with HIV (PLWH) before the initiation of antiretroviral therapy (ART).
Methods: A total of 378 ART-naive PLWH who had CD4 T-cell counts >500/µL and were enrolled in the Strategic Timing of Antiretroviral Therapy trial (Pulmonary Substudy) were compared with 34 HIV-negative controls.
Medical comorbidities occur in more persons with HIV than without HIV. We used a nationally representative 10% sample of 2016 Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) dispensing data to compare the proportions of antiretroviral therapy (ART)-purchasing and non-ART-purchasing patients who also purchased prescriptions for medical comorbidities. Each patient who purchased ART was compared with two gender- and age group-matched patients who did not purchase ART in the same year.

Using national Australian dispensing data we compare ART regimens with Australian HIV treatment guidelines in the context of treated comorbidities.
Methods: The study population included all individuals in a 10% sample of national data from the Australian Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) who purchased a prescription of ART during 2016.
The role of antiretroviral therapy (ART) in reducing or contributing to liver fibrosis in persons with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is unclear. We evaluated participants in the Strategic Timing of AntiRetroviral Treatment (START) trial for liver fibrosis using the AST to Platelet Ratio Index (APRI) and Fibrosis-4 Index (FIB-4), and assessed for a benefit of early versus delayed ART on liver fibrosis progression.
