Relapsing phyllodes cystosarcoma and chest wall invasion with long-term survival: is aggressive surgery worthwhile?

A case of a 46-year-old woman with disease relapse and surgical intervention with a transverse rectus abdominalis muscle flap (TRAM) of the chest wall is reported. Long-term survival (64 months) following aggressive surgery was succeeded.

Beware of hemopneumothorax following core needle breast biopsy.

Minimal diagnostic procedures are conducted regularly by the radiologists for several lesions within the body. The usual methodology is biopsy with a needle, either fine needle aspiration or core biopsy. The guidance is under CT or U/S.

Multiple metachronous and synchronous malignancies with lung and thorax involvement. Report of two cases.

Multiple primary malignant neoplasms (MPMN) is an uncommon phenomenon, while the diagnosis of such conditions is very significant. Considering that the strategy of the treatment is determined by the histological type of the tumor, practitioners should be alert in order to avoid malpractices in cases of multiple metachronous or synchronous malignancies. In this article we report two rare cases of MPMN.

Pneumothorax as a complication of central venous catheter insertion.

The central venous catheter (CVC) is a catheter placed into a large vein in the neck [internal jugular vein (IJV)], chest (subclavian vein or axillary vein) or groin (femoral vein). There are several situations that require the insertion of a CVC mainly to administer medications or fluids, obtain blood tests (specifically the "central venous oxygen saturation"), and measure central venous pressure. CVC usually remain in place for a longer period of time than other venous access devices.

Cardiac tamponade as primary manifestation of angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AILT). Coexistence with malignant mesothelioma.

Background: Cardiac tamponade (CT) as the primary clinical manifestation of lymphomas is extremely rare. Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AILT) is characterised by systemic disease usually presenting with generalised peripheral lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, and bone marrow infiltration.

Case Report: We report on a 59-year-old male patient with CT as initial clinical manifestation of AILT.
