Aim: To investigate reactivated Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection as a cause for chronic hepatitis.
Methods: Patients with occasionally established elevated serum aminotransferases were studied. HIV, HBV and HCV-infections were excluded as well as any other immunosuppressive factors, metabolic or toxic disorders.
Autosomal dominant renal polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is one of the major causes for the development of chronic renal failure and renal transplantation. In 85.7% of the cases ADPKD is associated with hepatic polycystosis that could worsen the prognosis of the patient.

Three patients with PBC (stage II) have been treated with UDCA (Ursofalk and Falk Pharma, Freiburg, Germany)--of 10 mg/kg daily dosage in the course of three years. Patients with well-defined PBC underwent complete history, physical examination, liver chemistries, ultrasonography and liver biopsy.
