Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the postoperative survival and effectiveness of known prognostic scores in patients undergoing surgery for a single brain metastasis.
  • In a group of 74 patients, factors like good performance status and the absence of extracranial metastases were linked to better overall survival, while immediate whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) did not significantly extend survival.
  • The study found that certain prognostic scores (RPA and GPA) were useful for identifying patients with very good or very poor prognosis, but further validation in larger populations is needed to confirm these findings.
