Optic disk melanocytoma associated with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy lesions, after combination treatment of photodynamic therapy and intavitreal aflibercept (Eylea), a case report.

Background: We report a rare case of a woman with optic disk melanocytoma (ODMC) in conjunction with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV). We also present, for the first time in literature, the clinical and morphological outcomes of the applied treatment, consisting of a session of photodynamic therapy (PDT) and three monthly intravitreal aflibercept injections.

Case Presentation: An 83-year-old Greek woman, complaining for visual decline at her left eye, referred to our department and was diagnosed with ODMC associated with PCV.

Psychological Aspects and Depression in Patients with Symptomatic Keratoconus.

Purpose: To assess the psychological status of keratoconus sufferers and to determine the relationship between depression and visual impairment in this group of patients.

Methods: Fifty-six patients with keratoconus and forty-seven age- and gender-matched healthy control subjects were retroprospectively analyzed. Every participant underwent a complete ophthalmological examination.

Central serous chorioretinopathy after ocular trauma in the fellow eye during a water-polo game.

A 35-year-old water polo player was struck in his right eye during a water polo game. At presentation to our hospital, his visual acuity, intraocular pressure, fundus examination and neurological examination were normal. He received the appropriate treatment (no corticosteroids were applied), but 1 week later he reported blurred vision in his left eye.

Electrophysiological examination in uveitis: a review of the literature.

Purpose: Uveitis is the inflammation of the uveal tract, which usually also affects the retina and vitreous humor. The electrophysiological examination is an objective ocular examination that includes the electroretinogram, visual evoked potentials, the electrooculogram, the multifocal electroretinogram, and multifocal visual evoked potentials. Our aim is to review the literature of the use of the electrophysiological examination in cases of uveitis.

Vision loss after accidental methanol intoxication: a case report.

Background: Methanol intoxication is a dangerous situation because it often results in permanent problems such as visual deterioration, metabolic disturbances, neurological dysfunction, and even death. We present, to the best of our knowledge, the first case of irreversible bilateral blindness due to methanol intoxication caused by accidental ingestion of rubbing liquid.

Case Presentation: A 49-year-old Greek man developed bilateral irreversible blindness after accidental methanol intoxication.
