The association of platinum(ii)-based luminophores, which is caused by metal⋯metal and π-π stacking interactions, has been actively exploited in supramolecular construction of photofunctional molecular materials. Herein, we describe a series of bimetallic complexes [{Pt(C^N^*N)}(CN)][BAr], containing cyanido-bridged cyclometalated Pt(ii) chromophore fragments (HC^N^N = 6-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine, (benzyltriazolyl)-phenylpyridine, and pyrazolyl-phenylpyridine; HC^N*N = -pentyl-6-phenyl--(pyridin-2-yl)pyridin-2-amine; ^/* denote five/six-membered metallocycles). These compounds are intensely phosphorescent at room temperature showing quantum yields up to 0.

These salts are moderately fluorescent in the solid state under ambient conditions (λ = 458 nm, Φ = 0.11 for ; λ = 460 nm, Φ = 0.

Therefore, phytoremediation methods need to be developed to overcome this problem. To date, little research has been conducted concerning the phytoremediation potential of Salix for REEs.

Continuous cover forestry (CCF) is proposed to be an environmentally more sustainable management option for peatland forests than conventional even-aged clear-cutting. However, the impacts of CCF on water quality, the biodegradability of DOC and consequent CO emissions from inland waters are poorly known.

This study assesses the partitioning of 18 elements (Al, As, Bi, C, Ca, Cd, Cl, Cu, K, Mg, Na, P, Pb, S, Sb, Sn, Ti, and Zn) between condensed and gaseous phases during thermal treatment of MSWI fly ash in both oxidising gas and reducing gas atmospheres, at different temperatures spanning the range 200-1050 °C. The operating atmosphere had major impacts on the partitioning of the following elements: As, Bi, C, Cd, Cu, Na, Pb, S, Sb, Sn, and Zn.

Differences in volatility in oxidising and reducing atmospheres (air and 10% H/90% N) were assessed at two temperatures, 700 and 1000 °C. P and Mn were predominately retained in all ashes regardless of the operating atmosphere and temperature.

This paper introduces a more sulfur-resistant catalyst system that can be regenerated during operation. The developed catalyst system lowers the barrier that has restrained the use of liquefied natural gas as a fuel in energy production.

Manganese oxide (MnO) has recently emerged as a promising alternate material for the fabrication of self-propelled micromotors. Platinum (Pt) has been traditionally used as a catalytic material for this purpose. However, the high cost associated with Pt restricts its widespread use toward practical applications where large amounts of material are required.

The dual effect of MnO2 microparticles led to a greater than 90 % of decolorization of non-biodegradable organic dyes in just 1 h, without the need for external agitation or bubble generation. These findings suggest high potential of MnO2 micromotors for decontamination of organic pollutants from wastewaters or natural water reserves.

Two families of spherical (SiO2)n clusters derived from Platonic solids and Archimedean polyhedra are depicted, with n ranging from 4-120. The analogue of a truncated icosidodecahedron, Ih-symmetric Si120O240, is favored in energy, closely followed by the Ih-symmetric Si60O120-truncated icosahedron.
