ObjectiveThis study aimed to investigate calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) levels in children and adolescents with primary headache.MethodsAll patients underwent blood sampling regardless of their headache state (ictal or interictal) on the day of examination. The patients were grouped based on their headache diagnosis (migraine, tension-type headache, or mixed).

However, MTNR1B missense variants have shown conflicting results on type 2 diabetes. Thus, we aimed to gain further insights into the impact of MTNR1B coding variants on type 2 diabetes prevalence and related phenotypes.

This study aimed to investigate if a paradoxical rise in PAC during CCT, was associated with clinical characteristics or outcomes inpatients with PA. We hypothesized that a paradoxical response to CCT is ameasure of disease severity, reflected by a higher baseline aldosterone/renin-ratio (ARR).

Currently, multimodal exercise regimes including weight-bearing exercises with impact are prescribed as optimal for maintaining bone health, while there is less consensus on the effects of resistance training at different intensities upon bone. Here we examined whether bone health was positively influenced by 1 year of supervised resistance training at two different intensities.

Background: Melatonin levels decrease with aging and substantially during puberty. Studies have presented distinct melatonin levels in patients with disorders related to their pubertal development compared to healthy controls. The discrepancy suggests that a decrease in melatonin concentrations seen during adolescence might be related to the physical, hormonal, and/or neuronal alterations that occur during the pubertal period.

Aim: To explore the association between bone disorder and the risk for progression of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) in persons with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM).
Methods: In this prospective cohort study the association between bone mineral density (BMD), bone-derived factors (sclerostin, Dickkopf-1, and osteoprotegerin (OPG)), and four outcomes were investigated: 1) progression of albuminuria; 2) decline in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) ≥30 %; 3) kidney failure (KF); and 4) a composite kidney outcome consisting of at least one of the outcomes.
Results: In 318 participants (median follow-up time 5.
Objectives: Several studies have observed associations between unfavorable levels of blood glucose metabolic markers (i.e., fasting glucose, fasting insulin, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), and insulin resistance (HOMA-IR)) and functional somatic disorder (FSD).

Few studies, only involving adults, have investigated this hypothesis and have found inconsistent results regarding oxytocin system activity and OCD. We investigated whether salivary oxytocin concentrations differed between children and adolescents with and without OCD and qualified our comparative analysis by investigating the possible covariates age, pubertal stage, and sex.

Background And Aim: Vitamin K deficiency is common in persons with kidney disease, which is a known complication of diabetes. We aimed to assess the association of vitamin K status as reflected by plasma dephosphorylated-uncarboxylated matrix Gla protein (dp-ucMGP) with mortality, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and progression to end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) in persons with type 1 diabetes.
Materials And Methods: We analysed plasma dp-ucMGP in stored baseline samples from a cohort of 667 persons with type 1 diabetes (baseline visit: 2009-2011).
Background: The alpha-emitting radionuclide therapy [Ra]RaCl (Radium-223) improves overall survival (OS) and time to symptomatic skeletal event (SSE) in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Evidence suggests that the effect of Radium-223 is partly exerted through an impact on the surrounding bone matrix. We hypothesized that bone metabolism markers (BMM) could provide predictive information regarding response to Radium-223.

This study evaluated the feasibility of 19-weeks of multimodal training in a local community center with emphasis on musculoskeletal health in postmenopausal women.

After MI, the clinically observed half-life of cTn has been reported to be 7 to 20 hours, but this estimate reflects the combined elimination and simultaneous release of cTn from cardiomyocytes. More precise timing of myocardial injuries necessitates separation of these 2 components.

However other characteristics of cerebrospinal fluid and blood parameters have not yet been described. The objective of this study was to evaluate the differences in routine blood and cerebrospinal fluid analyses between NT1 patients and patients suspected of hypersomnia.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOptic disc drusen (ODD) are calcified, acellular bodies, seen in the optic nerve head of up to 2% of the population. Although seldomly affecting visual acuity, visual field defects are common, and severe, ischemic complications causing irreversible vision loss are known to occur. Different treatment strategies for ODD have been explored, but so far without success.

We evaluated the effect of the GLP-1RA semaglutide on the bone formation marker Procollagen type I N-terminal propeptide (PINP) in adults with increased fracture risk.
Methods: This randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blinded, phase 2 clinical trial was conducted at two public hospitals in Denmark.

Background: Understanding the role of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) in the pathogenesis of rosacea might provide new therapeutic avenues for individuals with this disease.
Objective: To compare plasma levels of CGRP between individuals with rosacea and healthy controls.
Methods: In this cross-sectional case-control study conducted in Copenhagen, Denmark, we collected blood samples from the antecubital vein from adults with rosacea and from healthy controls.
