Background: Case formulation plays a key role in effective management of offenders' needs, particularly on the Offender Personality Disorder Pathway (OPDP).

Aims: To validate a method of investigating formulations with offenders still in prison but in the OPD Pathway and investigate agreement over the content of formulations between each of the main dyadic pairs: offender-clinician, offender-key worker and clinician-key worker.

Methods: We developed a checklist of the main features of a formulation from a review of initial formulations in the files of prisoners in two prisons which operate within the OPD Pathway system.

Background: The effectiveness of community services in reducing recidivism by men in the 'dangerous and severe personality disorder' framework--with personality disorder and at high risk of recidivism--is unknown.

Aims: To conduct a preliminary examination of the characteristics and reconviction rates of male offenders with personality disorder accessing two South London community dangerous and severe personality disorder pilot outpatient services and to evaluate the role of supported housing for them.

Methods: Reoffending outcomes of 107 high risk offenders with personality disorder were assessed using a cross-sectional cohort study design.

Background:  In the theoretical literature, there is growing recognition of the psychological impact on staff of working in challenging healthcare settings. In forensic mental health (FMH) services, powerful transference and counter-transference reactions in staff-patient relationships may emerge and may even play a role in contributing to incidents of malpractice, but there is little empirical research here.

Aim:  The exploration of the experiences of FMH staff in two contrasting services.
