Objective: This research aimed to examine changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in activities of daily living and health status of children with special needs.
Method: The current descriptive and comparative study was carried out with 82 students studying at a special education practice school that provided daytime education to children with special needs before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Personal Information Form, the Katz Index of Independence in Activities of Daily Living, and the Omaha System Problem Classification Scheme were employed as data collection tools in the research.
Background: The patient's position is important for ensuring patient comfort and preventing complications after thyroidectomy.
Objectives: This study was carried out to determine the effects of different degrees of head-of-bed elevation (HOBE) on the respiratory pattern and drainage following thyroidectomy and to provide suggestions for evidence-based clinical practice.
Methods: The sample of this prospective, parallel arm, randomized controlled trial included 114 patients undergoing thyroidectomy in a university hospital in Turkey.
Objective(s): This study assessed the health problems of Syrian immigrants living in urban areas using the Omaha System.
Design: A descriptive and observational study was conducted in Istanbul.
Sample: The sample included 51 Syrian immigrant families and 248 Syrian refugees.
Vitamin D deficiency is associated with several chronic diseases, which include cardiovascular, autoimmune diseases, and cancer. Several factors such as exposure to sunlight, skin color, dietary habits, and cultural factors affect serum vitamin D levels. We hypothesized that serum vitamin D levels in young women are associated with clothing styles and investigated this via a cross-sectional study that included 100 female students at Istanbul Medipol University.
