Ramadan fasting (RF) involves abstaining from food and drink during daylight hours; it is obligatory for all healthy Muslims from the age of puberty. Although sick individuals are exempt from fasting, many will fast anyway. This article explores the impact of RF on individuals with kidney diseases through a comprehensive review of existing literature and consensus recommendations.

Use of intravenous tocilizumab in pregnancy for severe coronavirus disease 2019 pneumonia: two case reports.

Background: Tocilizumab, an interleukin-6 inhibitor is part of many international guidelines for the management of cytokine storm associated with severe coronavirus disease 2019 with observed improvements. However, this drug is not recommended during pregnancy owing to the lack of safety data. Restriction of such medication use makes the management of coronavirus disease 2019 in pregnant women more challenging.

Characteristics of patients with low-trauma vertebral fractures in the United Arab Emirates: a descriptive multi-center analysis.

Vertebral fracture is the most common type of osteoporotic fracture. However, the prevalence of osteoporosis and osteoporotic vertebral fractures were not explored previously in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This study aims to describe for the first time the demographic and morphological characteristics of patients with fragility vertebral fractures in the UAE through a retrospective review of the medical records of patients with low-trauma vertebral fractures who visited two tertiary centers during 2011-2016.
