Appendiceal diverticulum is a rare condition that usually presents with symptoms similar to acute appendicitis. Although imaging can be used to aid the diagnosis of this condition, it is usually confirmed postoperatively on the basis of histology. Because of an increased risk of appendiceal neoplasms, the usual management is prophylactic appendicectomy.
