Pulmonary embolism is a complication of COVID-19 infection. The aim of this study is to assess prognosis and treatment response, including incidences of chronicity, relapse, and mortality among outpatients diagnosed with COVID-19-related pulmonary embolism between 2020 and 2022. A total of 101 patients with pulmonary embolism, started on anticoagulation during or within a month of COVID-19 infection, were included after testing positive by PCR.

Background/aim: There is limited information on the pathologic changes in the small airways among obese and nonobese patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). Impulse oscillometry (IOS) measures airway resistance and reactance independently of patient effort. This study aimed to compare airway resistance in small airways using IOS between obese and nonobese patients with OSAS.

Bacillus Calmette-Guerin vaccine is administered for protection against tuberculosis and may also have beneficial effects against some viral respiratory tract infections. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between Bacillus Calmette-Guerin vaccination which is confirmed by BCG scar, and the frequency and course of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Among 490 patients, 400 patients who accepted to participate in the study were included.

Purpose: To describe early results of two cohorts of patients with low and intermediate risk of early breast cancer treated with accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) using different schedules of multicatheter brachytherapy.

Material And Methods: Patients with early stage breast cancer after breast conserving surgery were enrolled for a prospective analysis. The APBI, using multicatheter brachytherapy, was delivered either eight times 4 Gy in five days with a planned total dose of 32 Gy, or seven times 5 Gy in four days with a planned total dose of 35 Gy.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Nigar Aliyeva"

  • - Nigar Aliyeva's recent research primarily focuses on the implications of COVID-19 on vascular health, evaluating treatment responses and long-term outcomes in patients with pulmonary vascular thrombosis related to the virus.
  • - Another significant avenue of her work investigates respiratory function in obstructive sleep apnea patients, specifically contrasting small airway resistance between obese and nonobese individuals using impulse oscillometry.
  • - Additionally, her studies examine the broader health impacts of early interventions—such as the Bacillus Calmette-Guerin vaccine and breastfeeding practices—on the development of infectious diseases and mental health disorders in children.
