Heart failure years after cancer treatment.

Progress in cancer treatment has significantly improved survival of patients with cancer. However, the incidence of cardiovascular diseases such as left ventricular dysfunction (LVD) and chronic heart failure (HF) is increasing due to the long-term toxic effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Cardio-oncology teams are necessary to ensure the implementation of primary prevention strategies and screening protocols for early recognition of LVD.
