Radiologists are prone to missing some colorectal cancers (CRCs) on routine abdominopelvic CT examinations that are in fact detectable on the images. To develop an artificial intelligence (AI) model to detect CRC on routine abdominopelvic CT examinations, performed without bowel preparation. This retrospective study included 3945 patients (2275 men, 1670 women; mean age, 62 years): a training set of 2662 patients from Severance Hospital with CRC who underwent routine contrast-enhanced abdominopelvic CT before treatment between January 2010 and December 2014; and internal (841 patients from Severance Hospital) and external (442 patients from Gangnam Severance Hospital) test sets of patients who underwent routine contrast-enhanced abdominopelvic CT for any indication and colonoscopy within a 2-month interval between January 2018 and June 2018.

Since 2004, the Korean Practice Guidelines for Gastric Cancer have been regularly updated, with the 4th edition published in 2022. The 4th edition was the result of a collaborative work by an interdisciplinary team, including experts in gastric surgery, gastroenterology, endoscopy, medical oncology, abdominal radiology, pathology, nuclear medicine, radiation oncology, and guideline development methodology.

Using MRI-based tumor regression grading (mrTRG) and methods employed in daily practice, the readers independently assessed mrTRG, CR on T2-weighted images (T2WI) denoted as mrCR, and CR on all images including diffusion-weighted images (DWI) denoted as mrCR.

Abbreviated MRI (AMRI) has recently gained popularity owing to better sensitivity in its detection of early-stage HCC than US, while also minimizing the time and cost in comparison to complete contrast-enhanced MRI, as AMRI includes only a few essential sequences tailored for detecting HCC.
