Article Synopsis
  • Intralesional corticosteroid injections, like triamcinolone acetonide (TAC), are commonly used to treat keloids but don't always work well.
  • Researchers studied how TAC spreads in keloids and normal skin using different methods, like needles and special jet injectors.
  • They found that the way TAC spreads was different in keloids compared to normal skin, which might explain why the treatment is sometimes not effective, and they want to do more research to improve how it's delivered.

Keloid tissues contain inflammatory cells and upregulated pro-inflammatory cytokines. The Janus kinase (JAK)-signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) pathway mediate cellular responses to these cytokines. We performed a systematic review on the role of the JAK-STAT pathway in keloid pathogenesis and the evidence for JAK-STAT inhibitors in keloid treatment.

Silicone breast implants (SBIs) have been subject to scientific scrutiny since the 1960's because of their potential link with systemic disease symptoms. Breast implant illness (BII) is a cluster of over 56 (systemic) symptoms attributed by patients to their SBIs. BII remains an unofficial medical diagnosis, although its symptoms include but are not limited to the clinical manifestations of autoimmune/inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants (ASIA).

A versatile generic framework for parent grain reconstruction from fully or partially transformed child microstructures has been integrated into the open-source crystallographic toolbox The framework extends traditional parent grain reconstruction, phase transformation and variant analysis to all parent-child crystal symmetry combinations. The inherent versatility of the universally applicable parent grain reconstruction methods and the ability to conduct in-depth variant analysis are showcased via example workflows that can be programmatically modified by users to suit their specific applications. This is highlighted by three applications, namely α'-to-γ reconstruction in a lath martensitic steel, α-to-β reconstruction in a Ti alloy, and a two-step reconstruction from α' to ɛ to γ in a twinning and transformation-induced plasticity steel.
