Background: Internal mammary node irradiation (IMNI) improves overall survival (OS) in node-positive breast cancer patients. However, the effect is not documented in breast cancer patients treated with newer systemic therapies and 3D-based radiotherapy (RT). Therefore, the Danish Breast Cancer Group (DBCG) IMN2 study aimed to investigate the effect of IMNI in node-positive breast cancer patients treated with newer systemic therapies and 3D-based RT.

Copper compounds with artificial metallo-nuclease (AMN) activity are mechanistically unique compared to established metallodrugs. Here, we describe the development of a new dinuclear copper AMN, Cu2-BPL-C6 (BPL-C6 = bis-1,10-phenanthroline-carbon-6), prepared using click chemistry that demonstrates site-specific DNA recognition with low micromolar cleavage activity. The BPL-C6 ligand was designed to force two redox-active copper centres-central for enhancing AMN activity-to bind DNA, via two phenanthroline ligands separated by an aliphatic linker.

A number of studies have tested the factor structure of the suggested ICD-11 symptom criteria for PTSD and complex PTSD (CPTSD) across various trauma populations, finding support for two different models in line with the ICD-11 theoretical rationale. Here, we aim to explore the factor structure of the Danish version of the International Trauma Questionnaire (ITQ) by testing two alternative factor models that have previously gained support in a large sample of treatment-seeking veterans. Treatment-seeking Danish soldiers and veterans ( = 599) recruited from the Military Psychology Department in the Danish Defence completed the International Trauma Questionnaire (ITQ).

In recent years, evidence supporting non-ionotropic signalling by the NMDA receptor (niNMDAR) has emerged, including roles in long-term depression (LTD). Here, we investigated whether niNMDAR-pannexin-1 (Panx1) contributes to LTD at the CA3-CA1 hippocampal synapse. Using whole-cell, patch clamp electrophysiology in rat hippocampal slices, we show that a low-frequency stimulation (3 Hz) of the Schaffer collaterals produces LTD that is blocked by continuous but not transient application of the NMDAR competitive antagonist, MK-801.

Various acupuncture clinical trials have been conducted on migraine; however, the conclusions remain controversial especially when acupuncture was compared with sham acupuncture. Sham acupuncture is sometimes performed at the same acupuncture points used for verum acupuncture despite the evidence on acupuncture point specificity. Four databases were searched for sham acupuncture or waiting list-controlled acupuncture trials for migraine on December 25, 2023.

Purpose: Work-related musculoskeletal disorders are prevalent among healthcare workers. These workers experience high rates of low-back pain; partly due to the high physical demands of patient transfers. Understanding the specific transfer scenarios that contribute to high physical loads is therefore crucial for developing strategies to improve working conditions.

Childhood exposure to social disadvantage is a major risk factor for psychiatric disorders and poor developmental, educational, and occupational outcomes, presumably because adverse exposures alter the neurodevelopmental processes that contribute to risk trajectories. Yet, given the limited social mobility in the United States and other countries, childhood social disadvantage is frequently preceded by maternal social disadvantage during pregnancy, potentially altering fetal brain development during a period of high neuroplasticity through hormonal, microbiome, epigenetic, and immune factors that cross the placenta and fetal blood-brain barrier. The current study examines prenatal social disadvantage to determine whether these exposures in utero are associated with alterations in functional brain networks as early as birth.

Numerous studies have established that prebiotic ingredients in foods and dietary supplements may play a role in supporting human health. Over the three decades that have passed since prebiotics were first defined as a concept, research has revealed a complex universe of prebiotic-induced changes to the human microbiota. There are strong indications of a direct link between these prebiotic-induced changes and specific health benefits.

Dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) has proven to be a powerful technique to enhance nuclear spin polarization by transferring the much higher electron spin polarization to nuclear spins prior to detection. While major attention has been devoted to high-field applications with continuous microwave irradiation, the introduction of fast arbitrary waveform generators is gradually increasing opportunities for the realization of pulsed DNP. Here, we describe how static-powder DNP pulse sequences may systematically be designed using single-spin vector effective Hamiltonian theory.

Article Synopsis
  • Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest is a major global health issue, necessitating effective vascular access for drug administration during resuscitation.
  • A clinical trial comparing intraosseous and intravenous methods found that both had similar effectiveness for restoring circulation, with around 30% of patients in each group succeeding.
  • At 30 days post-arrest, survival rates and favorable neurologic outcomes also showed no significant differences between the two methods, indicating both approaches are equally viable.
