The N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification serves as an essential epigenetic regulator in eukaryotic cells, playing a significant role in tumorigenesis and cancer progression. However, the detailed biological functions and underlying mechanisms of m6A regulation in gastric cancer (GC) are poorly understood. Our research revealed that the m6A demethylase ALKBH5 was markedly downregulated in GC tissues, which was associated with poor patient prognosis.

Narrow-gap InN is a desirable candidate for near-infrared (NIR) optical communication applications. However, the absence of lattice-matched substrates impedes the fabrication of high-quality InN. In this paper, we employed Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) to grow nanostructured InN with distinct growth mechanisms.

The manufacturing precision of electro-hydraulic servo valve sleeves is critical to the performance and longevity of the valves. To ensure the service life of these valves, the valve sleeve is typically made from high-hardness martensitic stainless steel, which is considered a hard-to-cut material. Current honing methods often suffer from inefficiency and instability.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of the employment situation on the anxiety levels and research self-efficacy of graduate students, with a particular focus on female graduate students. The study aims to understand how the use of AIGC tools, which has become more frequent among those with lower research self-efficacy, affects anxiety and research resilience. Additionally, the research explores the role of the mentoring relationship in influencing the psychological and academic experiences of female graduate students.

The ongoing soft actuation has accentuated the demand for dielectric elastomers (DEs) capable of large deformation to replace the traditional rigid mechanical apparatus. However, the low actuation strain of DEs considerably limits their practical applications. This work developed high-performance polyurethane-urea (PUU) elastomers featuring large actuation strains utilizing an approach of kinetic control over the microphase separation structure during the fabrication process.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates how self-esteem in adolescents, particularly those with hearing impairments, is influenced by their satisfaction in various life areas and the roles of resilience and positive coping strategies.
  • - A sample of 657 children from deaf/special schools in Hubei Province was analyzed, revealing that self-esteem is positively linked to both resilience and positive coping strategies.
  • - Findings indicate that resilience significantly predicts self-esteem, and positive coping strategies partially mediate this relationship, suggesting that interventions to enhance these areas may boost self-esteem in this population.

Aim: Programmed cell death (PCD) critically influences the tumor microenvironment (TME) and is intricately linked to tumor progression and patient prognosis. This study aimed to develop a novel prognostic indicator and marker of drug sensitivity in patients with gastric cancer (GC) based on PCD.

Methods: We analyzed genes associated with 14 distinct PCD patterns using bulk transcriptome data and clinical information from TCGA-STAD for model construction with univariate Cox regression and LASSO regression analyses.

Background: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a critical role in gastric cancer (GC) progression and metastasis. However, research comprehensively exploring tissue-derived lncRNAs for predicting peritoneal recurrence in patients with GC remains limited. This study aims to investigate the transcriptional landscape of lncRNAs in GC with peritoneal metastasis (PM) and to develop an integrated lncRNA-based score to predict peritoneal recurrence in patients with GC after radical gastrectomy.

  • Horizontal well hydraulic fracturing technology has greatly improved shale reservoir productivity but lacks understanding of fracture expansion and fluid movement in real-world conditions.
  • A dynamic geomechanical (DG) model is developed to simulate hydraulic fracturing operations using field-mimicking procedures and calibrated to field data for better accuracy.
  • The DG model allows for detailed analysis of reservoir dynamics, effectively mapping fluid injection effects, fracture propagation, and permeability changes following fracturing operations.

Vanadium flow battery (VFB) promises a route for achieving grid-scale power storage by harnessing renewable energy sources. However, the sluggish reaction kinetics of vanadium redox couples and serious hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) still restrict the further development of VFB. Addressing these challenges requires not only effective solutions but also ones that are cost-efficient and scalable to meet the demands of affordable energy storage.

Article Synopsis
  • The hydraulic secondary regulation drive system uses a hydraulic servo motor for precise position tracking but suffers from issues like high inertia and low damping, which reduce control accuracy.
  • This paper proposes a cascaded control strategy that incorporates adaptive robust control, utilizing a fifth-order model to split the system into inner and outer control loops for better management of uncertainties and disturbances.
  • Experimental results demonstrate that this new method significantly improves position tracking accuracy by 50% to 80% compared to traditional methods, even under varying frequency commands.

The integration of inorganic materials with biological machinery to convert plastics into fuels offers a promising strategy to alleviate environmental pollution and energy crisis. Herein, we develop a type of hybrid living material via biomineralization of CdS onto Shewanella oneidensis-based biofilm, which is capable of sustainable hydrogen production from poly(lactic acid) (PLA) wastes under daylight. We reveal that the formed biofilm microstructure provides an independent anaerobic microenvironment that simultaneously supports cellular viability, maintains hydrogenase activity, and preserves the functional stability of CdS, giving rise to the efficient plastic-to-hydrogen conversion efficiency as high as 3751 μmol H g-1 PLA.

Laser link acquisition and pointing technique is one of the essential techniques for the inter-satellite laser interferometry for space-based gravitational waves detection and next-generation Earth gravity measurement missions. The first step of building up inter-satellite laser link is using an acquisition camera to capture the inter-satellite laser beam signals within a pre-scanning uncertain cone. Subsequently, high-precision angle measurement technology, namely differential wavefront sensing, is used to achieve a high pointing precision required.
