Article Synopsis
  • Lower limb entrapment neuropathies are a group of disorders that include conditions like tarsal tunnel syndrome and Morton neuroma, which, while less common, can cause significant symptoms such as pain and muscular weakness.
  • Accurate diagnosis is critical, as these conditions can be confused with other issues like lumbar plexopathies, requiring thorough patient assessment and diagnostic testing, such as electrodiagnostics or advanced imaging techniques.
  • This article emphasizes the need for precise diagnosis to enable effective treatment and prevent further nerve damage and muscle loss, while also discussing the various aspects of these neuropathies, including their causes and clinical presentation.

In this analysis, we aimed to investigate the effect of COVID-19 disease on eating behavior. A total of 55 right-handed adults, <50 years of age, without overweight or obesity, from two cross-sectional studies were included. The first one enrolled subjects between September 2018 and December 2019 (non-COVID-19 group).

Understanding the profound impact of a viral pandemic on the mental health of patients with autoimmune diseases undergoing biological treatment is crucial for future insights. This cross-sectional case-control study aimed to assess the mental health implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on individuals with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in Romania, spanning from November 2022 to March 2023. A specialized self-report questionnaire in the Romanian language was developed to measure the multifaceted effects of COVID-19 on the mental well-being of these patients.

Article Synopsis
  • Lambert Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome (LEMS) is a rare neuromuscular disorder characterized by muscle weakness, lack of reflexes, and autonomic problems.
  • * The diagnosis involves clinical evaluations and tests for specific antibodies against voltage-gated calcium channels, along with neurophysiological assessments.
  • * A case study is presented of a 69-year-old man with prostate cancer and a long history of smoking, who experienced lower limb weakness and difficulty with stairs.

Article Synopsis
  • Entrapment neuropathies of the lower limb are poorly understood and often misdiagnosed conditions that can cause pain, sensory issues, and muscle weakness, primarily involving specific nerve entrapments like fibular and sural nerve entrapments.
  • These conditions are frequently confused with other disorders like lumbar plexopathies and radiculopathies due to similar symptoms, making accurate diagnosis challenging.
  • The review emphasizes the importance of thorough medical history, physical exams, and advanced imaging techniques to improve diagnostic accuracy, ultimately helping clinicians identify nerve damage early and prevent complications like muscle atrophy.

Diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN) is the most frequent complication of diabetes. Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), one of the most common neuropathies, is a chronic compression of the median nerve at the wrist. In our prospective cross-sectional study, we enrolled patients with type 2 diabetes presenting with signs and symptoms suggestive of DPN ( = 53).

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a common pathology, but sometimes the diagnosis is delayed in patients with diabetic neuropathy (DN). The aim of the study is twofold: first, to compare the accuracy of ultrasound (US) with that of electroneurography (ENG) in the diagnosis of CTS associated with DN, using the clinical diagnosis as a reference standard, and second, to investigate the correlation between morphological US parameters and electrodiagnosis (EDX) measurements in patients with CTS and DN. This study included patients with DN.
