The impact of a multidisciplinary small renal mass clinic on patient treatment decisions.

Introduction: Small renal masses (SRMs) are managed with active surveillance (AS), thermal ablation (TA), irreversible electroporation (IRE), or surgery, depending on patient and tumor factors. A novel SRM multidisciplinary clinic (SRMC), involving urologists and interventional radiologists, was established to provide patients with information on treatments options. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of the SRMC on treatment decision-making METHODS: Demographics, tumor characteristics, and treatment decisions were prospectively collected on patients (n=216) attending the SRMC between 2016 and 2019.

A Case Report of Intravascular Hemolysis and Heme Pigment-Induced Nephropathy Following AngioJet Thrombectomy for Thrombosed DIPS Shunt.

Rationale: The AngioJet system is a combined mechanical and pharmacological device used for thrombectomy. As a result of the mechanical disruption of clot, intravascular hemolysis is noted to occur. Rarely, intravascular hemolysis can be severe enough to cause heme pigment-induced acute kidney injury (AKI).

Development of a risk assessment model to differentiate malignant and benign musculoskeletal soft-tissue masses on magnetic resonance imaging.

Introduction: This study aimed to develop a risk stratification model to differentiate benign and malignant MRI-imaged musculoskeletal soft-tissue tumours, informing decisions surrounding biopsy and follow-up imaging.

Methods: Imaging of patients who underwent MRI and subsequent biopsy to evaluate a soft-tissue mass was retrospectively reviewed. Features analysed included patient age; tumour size; shape; margins; enhancement pattern; signal intensity pattern; deep fascia, neurovascular bundle, bone and joint involvement; and the presence of necrosis, haemorrhage, oedema and intralesional fat.

Women's health themes across the undergraduate medical curriculum at the University of British Columbia.

Objective: The overall objective of the project was to determine whether the current MD undergraduate curriculum at the University of British Columbia (UBC) met the minimum competencies in women's health according to available guidelines.

Methods: Ovid and MEDLINE were searched for information on women's health topics in medical undergraduate curricula. The Association of Professors of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (APOG) and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) medical student objectives were used as a framework for evaluation of the UBC curriculum.
