The study focused on creating Co/nano-CeO composite layers using an electro-codeposition method with cobalt and dispersed CeO nanoparticles.
The performances of Co/nano-CeO layers were compared to pure Co layers through sliding friction tests in a biological lubricant solution, assessing their tribocorrosion characteristics.
Results indicated that the presence of nano-CeO particles in the cobalt matrix decreased friction coefficient and wear, while also enhancing corrosion resistance by improving polarization resistance and shifting the open circuit potential.
