Sternal metastases of serous ovarian carcinoma are extremely rare conditions, with less than 10 articles published in the medical literature on this subject. The aim of this article is to present a case of late-onset sternal metastasis of serous ovarian carcinoma in a patient who underwent surgery for serous ovarian carcinoma approximately 6 years before and to provide a review of the literature regarding the importance of multidisciplinary management in such cases. Donohue syndrome (DS) is a rare recessively inherited disorder characterized by severe insulin resistance caused by genetic defects affecting the insulin receptor. The classical clinical characteristics include severe intrauterine growth restriction, craniofacial dysmorphic features, body and skin features, and soft tissue overgrowth. Postnatal growth retardation, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and renal complications, and infection susceptibility develop within the first few months of life, leading to a short life expectancy (<2 years).

Differentiation antagonizing noncoding RNA (DANCR) is recognized as an oncogenic long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) overexpressed in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). We showed in a previous study that RNAi with targeted multifunctional ionizable lipid ECO/siRNA nanoparticles was effective to regulate this undruggable target for effective treatment of TNBC. In this study, we developed dual-targeted ECO/siDANCR nanoparticles by targeting a tumor extracellular matrix oncoprotein, extradomain B fibronectin (EDB-FN), and integrins overexpressed on cancer cells for enhanced delivery of siDANCR.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors that overcome T cell suppressive mechanisms in tumors have revolutionized the treatment of cancer but are only efficacious in a small subset of patients. Targeting suppressive mechanisms acting on innate immune cells could significantly improve the incidence of clinical response by facilitating a multi-lineage response against the tumor involving both adaptive and innate immune systems. Here, we show that intra-tumoral interleukin (IL)-38 expression is a feature of a large frequency of head and neck, lung and cervical squamous cancers and correlates with reduced immune cell numbers.

Chemical analysis was performed on sediment core samples collected from three salt lakes, Amara Lake, Caineni Lake, and Movila Miresii Lake, located in the northeast of the Romanian Plain. The concentration of 10 main elements, 6 heavy metals (HMs), 8 rare earth elements (REEs), and 10 trace elements (TEs)-determined using neutron activation analysis (NAA)-showed variability dependent on the depth sections, lake genesis and geochemical characteristics (oxbow, fluvial harbor/liman and loess saucer type). The assessment of pollution indices (contamination factor, pollution load index, geoaccumulation index, and enrichment factor) highlighted low and moderate degrees of contamination for most of the investigated elements.

In this paper, we present the case of a 68-year-old male with personal medical history of coagulopathy issues, who presented to our Emergency Room (Emergency County Hospital, Arad, Romania) with bleeding of the superior tract of the digestive system; the case was difficult to manage, thus warranting the intervention of the Department of Gastroenterology. Endoscopy was performed to localize the site of bleeding and to stop the hemorrhage. This procedure was not successful.

Sarcomatoid renal cell carcinoma (SRCC) is an aggressive form of de-differentiated renal cell carcinoma. We report a case of a 79-year-old male who presented himself to the Department of Emergency complaining of macroscopic hematuria for the last two days and a back pain located in the lumbar region persisting for around a month; there were no major changes in the initial laboratory tests. Abdominal ultrasonography identified a renal mass located in the lower pole of the left kidney.
