Papillary fibroelastoma diagnosed through multimodality cardiac imaging: a rare tumour in an uncommon location with review of literature.

We describe the case of a woman presenting with transient ischaemic attack, who was found to have a papillary fibroelastoma arising from the aortic wall, an extremely rare location. We describe the multimodality imaging techniques used in diagnosing this patient and review the most recent literature on evaluation and management of patients with cardiac papillary fibroelastomas.

A modified Park's stitch to correct aortic insufficiency for bioprosthetic valve at time of left ventricular assist device implant: a case report.

Background: Aortic valve insufficiency (AI) at the time of left ventricular assist device (LVAD) insertion needs to be corrected, however there is little known about how to manage bioprosthetic valvular AI.

Case Presentation: A 55-year-old female with dilated cardiomyopathy who previously had a bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement needed a LVAD as a bridge to transplant. Her left ventricular ejection fraction was 10% and had mild to moderate transvalvular AI.

Robotic-assisted implantation of ventricular assist device after sternectomy and pectoralis muscle flap.

Left ventricular assist devices are increasingly important in the management of advanced heart failure. Most patients who benefit from these devices have had some prior cardiac surgery, making implantation of higher risk. This is especially true in patients who have had prior pectoralis flap reconstruction after sternectomy for mediastinitis.

Complication rates of radiation on tissue expander and autologous tissue breast reconstruction.

Background: To evaluate risk factors for complications of tissue expander/implant and autologous tissue breast reconstructions and determine if radiation increases complication rates.

Materials And Methods: We performed a retrospective review of patients who underwent mastectomy plus autologous tissue or expander/implant reconstruction at the Cleveland Clinic. Univariate and multivariate analysis were performed in each group to evaluate for risk factors for complications.
