Article Synopsis
  • Soft-tissue sarcoma (STS) is a rare cancer that significantly affects patients' health and quality of life due to complex treatment needs, resulting in greater functional impairments compared to other cancer patients.
  • This study, using data from 331 STS patients at the McGill University Health Centre, aimed to explore how biological factors, symptoms, and functional status impact patients' health perceptions one year after surgery.
  • Results indicated that self-reported functionality was the strongest predictor of health perceptions, with females reporting higher levels of pain and anxiety/depression influencing their perceptions negatively, suggesting a need for better psychosocial support.
